Have a thread up about biggest bonehead plays of the year, but how about the best/most important plays of the year?

My vote is Brian Rolle returning 2 point conversion attempt vs Navy

Yeah probably the Brian Rolle 2 pt conversion play. If Ohio St went to OT and loses that game, there is no telling how the season would have played out

Onside kick versus New Mexico State. It was a dogfight throughout the first quarter and when we finally got on the board at the beginning of the second quarter, we got the ball back on the ensuing kickoff that didn't allow New Mexico State to drive down the field and answer. Definitely one of the more important play calls of the year.

How about USC converting the 3rd and long when they hit McKnight in the open field and he was able to get the first down plus big yardage.

Thats funny, I think this was mentioned on the Biggest Bonehead thread. But I agree, I liked the call.

This should go on the other thread.

Most important... is probably the sack against Iowa in overtime...

Pryor to Posey before the half against Wisconsin was pretty big. But it's hard to argue with Rolle vs Navy.

What about Barclay's kick in OT vs Iowa?

Really the whole defensive series in overtime against Iowa. Moving them back out of field goal range when you already start out in field goal rang was huge.

November 7th Ohio State at Penn State
Late in the 3rd quarter the game is a defensive battle with OSU up 10-7. With 1:47 left in the 3rd, Pryor throws a 62 yard TD strike to Devier Posey.

Without that play, the defensive battle goes into the 4th quarter. I think that play dictated how the whole Month of November would go.

What was so bad about my post? And what about it was trolling?

Important doesn't mean best play. Or play leading to the best outcome.

If OSU stops that play against USC, then USC is possibly facing a 4th and long, and OSU finally has that win on the big stage that it needs so badly.

I would agree with any of the previous posts ... another worth mentioning is the first TD against Michigan off the Forcier fumble in his own end zone. At the time, it appeared it would be one of many, but it turned out to be a crucial score in a much-closer game than expected.

I agree, I think he just got important confused with backbreaking.

In all seriousness I think the Purdue ass kicking was a major turning point not just for this year but next. Sometimes those kind of losses are needed to wake people up and help players grow. I think improved play since then is evidence of how much it helped. I think Pryor will benefit the most.

Agreed. I think that was a turning point in the Buckeyes season.
