I think you'd be safe if you were channel-surfing and just kept it on that long enough to make sure it wasn't a commercial. There might be other scenarios where you'd be okay, but I wouldn't take my chances.

I would dare say that the full show could be viewed without penalty if you were watching this from your bed as post-coital entertainment for the unclad 19-year-old supermodel twins between their trips to the kitchen to bring you sammiches and beer.

I just got home at 4pm from work, flipped on TV. Same channel as the news that morning.

I admit to watching for a minute. Ellen was talking about the bracelet given to her. It was originally worn by the Dalai Lama.
I changed it immediately after she was done talking about her bracelet.

Damn it. I only watched for like two minutes. Was really hoping not to lose the man card for watching just a min........damn it.

Since I always watch NBC4 news, and my girl Monica Day in the morning before I leave for work, Ellen is always on when I get home and turn on the TV. I admit that there are times I watch, depending on who the guest(s) are. Luckily, I'm not a narrow minded, homophobe so I don't feel like there's a reason I shouldn't watch.
