See you keep shoving democratic propaganda words in my mouth despite the fact that I keep saying that they're all crooked and need to be held accountable. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are the tip of the iceberg. Goldman Sachs, AIG, Standard & Poors, Moody's, Countrywide, Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, need I go on? They are all guilty.

Perhaps you should share your wisdom and defend Washington first; let's start there.Mooney44Cards;930092 wrote:Washington is not the disease, it is the symptom.
If we eliminate the cause (Wall Street) somehow, perhaps through more oversight, transparency, regulation while at the same time eliminating or severely crippling the massive amount of influence Wall Street has on Washington we can begin to solve the problem. Just because you and I can't agree on how to solve the problem doesn't mean that we ignore the problem, but many in this thread seem to want to deflect the attention elsewhere, and that comes off as defending Wall Street which is pretty much an indefensible position.

Solyndria was merely an investment that didn't work out. We invest in emerging technologies because otherwise it's difficult for them to get off the ground (many things we now use started with government funds). We can't arrest people every time it doesn't work out.QuakerOats;930121 wrote:Please go on ..... perhaps start here:

It's clear you guys would rather talk about some retarded hippies instead of even entertain the idea of discussing the problems with Wall street.

I told you fraud happens in every level of government and bussiness. Now you answer my question. In the corporations you listed. Who in them has committed fraud? What evidence do you have that supports your accusation? Or do we just march in and throw them all in jail because they are Wall Street corporations.Mooney44Cards;930107 wrote:WTF is this? Are you denying the fraud happened?!

Please point out in any founding document wherein the federal government is responsible for "seed money", "getting companies off the ground" and financing private enterprise. While you are at it, please tell the TAXPAYERS why you believe that throwing half a billion dollars down a KNOWN rat hole is something we should just accept as the government missing out on here and there.I Wear Pants;930130 wrote:Solyndria was merely an investment that didn't work out. This just in...THERE ISN'T A HALF BILLION DOLLARS anywhere in the US Treasury to throw down 1 rat hole, let alone hundreds of them.

The government, or more specifically the leftists in government, let their own off the hook - for purely political reasons, so talk to me about the example set by them.Mooney44Cards;930033 wrote:This is an anecdotal meaningless statement. No one from Wall Street who committed the fraud that directly led to housing collapse has been arrested. If you can name even one person who was directly involved with the fraud involving credit default swaps and CDOs then you can begin to have an argument.
Simply saying "well people get arrested for fraud all the time" doesn't mean THESE people have been arrested.
"Well murderers get caught all the time so that means we don't have to go after these people that just committed genocide!"

I think we can put that one on the back burner for the time being and focus our attention on the rich folks on Wall Street who collected record bonuses during the housing bubble while meanwhile squandering away 20% of the wealth that has been accumulated over the course of our 200+ year history. I'm pretty sure that's the more pressing issue.QuakerOats;930121 wrote:Please go on ..... perhaps start here:

Once again, focusing the attention elsewhere in an attempt to make the democratic party look bad (they don't need help) is exactly what Wall Street wants you to do. They want you to focus your ire on Washington alone so that you can feel like you're making a difference once you vote in new politicians who Wall Street can then corrupt all over again.

And if they won't go, then march to their private homes, traumatize them AND their families, and terrorize them if need be. Oh wait...that's already in the works. Good job, Obama-bots - http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2011/10/10/2011-10-10_occupy_wall_street_protesters_can_stay_in_zuccotti_park_indefinitely_says_mayor_.html

Again....you're setting up a straw man here. I have continually said throughout this thread that Democrats are just as guilty, why do you keep propping up argument that make it seem like I'm going to defend the Democratic party? They're a wholly owned subsidiary of Wall Street, same as the Republicans.QuakerOats;930147 wrote:The government, or more specifically the leftists in government, let their own off the hook - for purely political reasons, so talk to me about the example set by them.

Mooney - I have a math question for you:
Since you claim that Wall Street (whatever that is) has more power and influence over government, which entity receives more funding? Quick hint...the feds rake in nearly $3,000,000,000,000 per year.
Now whom again is controlling whom?

And committing fraud while doing it? Honestly do you even know what happened with the housing bubble? Are you able to explain it to me in the simplest way possible so I know that you understand why we are where we are?Glory Days;930142 wrote:just because wealthy people are working and getting richer, doesnt mean wall street is broke.

It's the perfect play --- obama is burying himself with failed policies so why not resort to known tactics of activism/agitation and foment unrest in order to deflect attention from a failed record.
