So I've had a rough, rough past year or so, and it's culminated with me having to leave a pretty solid job (due to many issues). In need of some personal time, I'm planning a little getaway after New Year's. I have some money saved, so that isn't a big issue for now, so I'm thinking of driving and seeing some great college basketball action.

January 9th - Florida at Vanderbilt
January 10th - Kansas at Tennessee
January 11th - Villanova at Louisville
January 12th - Ohio State at Purdue

I know I will end up in Nashville so if I time it right, it should be a slow move north toward Ohio (with a little mis-direction along the way :)). Either way, I think the schedule lines up perfectly assuming I can handle the driving time. If anything, I'd skip out on the OSU/PU game and just head home from Louisville (especially since UK plays Florida on Tuesday night the 12th)!

Any advice from my fellow college basketball buddies?

Do it!

I know you're a Kentucky fan but you should switch Florida/Vandy with Illinois at IU! Assembly Hall...doesn't get much better! Would include a lot more dirving though.

AZ24, does this mean no more central ohio permanently? Anyways we used to chat in length at the other place. Been awhile since 9-0 was something we talked about. Hope the recent changes for you produce positive results in your life. In the meantime, keep me posted on the college bball front right here.

The Florida/Vanderbilt game is probably #1 on my list, only because I really want to see a game at Memorial Gym and I'm definitely going to be heading down to Nashville. I just figured the UT/KU game was definitely a good spot after that. The rest of the trip, beginning and end are up in the air. Going to Freedom Hall, or even to the city of Louisville isn't something I really care for, but it's a quality game and I know I could make that work.

I'll be down in Nashville for the SEC Tournament later this Spring, and I'm heading to Gameday at Rupp in February, so who knows what else might be on the horizon. I wouldn't be opposed to hitting some smaller schools either, within driving distance as well. I've actually never seen a game in Dayton, or in Cincy (either UC or X) so those would be possible. I'd be willing to go further south and/or west as well, but who knows.

Kansas and Tennessee is the best game on your schedule so I agree, it's definitely a good one to head for after the Florida game.

Definitely is. However, I NEED the time alone. I'll probably be sick of the car once it's over, but that's definitely not a concern of mine right now. I've done the C-Bus to Nashville trip many times, and it's a direct trip East to Knoxville which can easily be done that day with some time to spare. From there, it could go many ways, and who knows if that means heading back to Louisville. I may just skip Monday, drive through Lextown, re-visit the old UK stomping grounds and then head back home. Who knows :)

The Vanderbilt/Florida and Tennessee/Kansas games are pretty much a given though because the timing is just so perfect.

Only thing is......DO NOT GO TO WEST LAFAYETTE!

I hate the Purdue campus, but thats juts me. The game should be pretty good. But the Purdue students (crowd in general) have the best team in years and the atmosphere in the arena is piss poor. It really isnt a "Must See" place like Assembly Hall or Allen Fieldhouse, Rupp, etc are.

That is a great slate...the only topper would be if you could catch a game on Tobacco Road...say, one at Cameron, or the Dean Dome, or even sidle on up to Wake Forest or NC State....somewhere in the cradle of southern ACC basketball. Nevertheless...a very sweet plan...DO IT!

Dude thats awesome. Driving shouldnt be to much of a problem as long as the weather is good. You gotta take some pics and post them on here. Especially if you could get one with each set of cheerleaders
