Funky smell in small bathroom with stand up shower, toilet and sink. We have vent fan in ceiling and small window that I open while in shower and leave vent fan and window open before i leave to work....

It's an older home and has very old wall paper up above shower, could it be covered and just have mildew all over it? Toilet, plumbing under the flooring, shower/sink drain???

Any tips or advice?

I'm thinking about taking toilet off and checking the seals, etc....

Chances are that gases are leaking in from the toilet (1 of 2 ways). 1st...you may need a new wax ring under the toilet. The was ring seals the toilet to the floor and prevents fumes from leaking out. If that doesn't work, your pipes may have a small clog in them that is backing things up. If that's the case...call a plumber.

May not be vented properly to allow sewer gases to exit correctly.

Dump some drain cleaner down all drains and see if that helps.

Probably isn't the main problem, but might want to install a new fan. They are cheap and easy to put in.
