Do you stand when the game is on the line? Whether its the bottom of the 9th or a final goal line play in football, who doesnt get on their feet and cheer? i was at a baseball game a while back, went extra innings. several times a runner would get on second or third with the chance to end the game and maybe only half the crowd was on their feet with their team about to possibly win.

In college...stand the whole game for basketball/football. Now, stand for 3rd down plays or the last few minutes of a half in football. The last 3 minutes of a close game in basketball. Why stand for baseball?

I stand and yell. Also if you are sitting next to me and you are talking mindless jibber jaber on your cellphone expect me and my family to make as much noise as humanly possible.

Baseball is just too long and boring. Tonight when Sportscenter is was coming, they were talking about all the big games from today and then they tried to squeeze in baseball coverage too. Who gives a fuck anymore? Baseball is cool when it's like July and there's nothing else on and the Reds still have a slight chance, but at this point, who cares.

Agree with others... Stand for Basketball and Football.

Baseball just doesn't have the intensity. I've stood and cheered after a hit or good defensive play... but I have never stood up for a potential upcoming play.

Only time you stand in baseball if obviously to get up to cheer after homers, etc... Or in the 9th with 2 outs.

Our section at PBS is a standing section. By my count, there are only 3/4 standing sections.
Duke basketball, students stand everyone else sits.
Duke football I pretty much lay down on the benches. Often move to an empty area by half and sprawl out.
Will rise naturally if something good happens, but being a Duke football fan, this is a rare occurrence.

Yes, I stand. It's a freaking athletic event. It gets intense and exciting. Standing on one's feet is a natural reaction many times during stressful or exciting moments in a game. If someone goes to a game, they should expect to see people standing. If those people happen to be in front of them, tough luck.

You stand during big plays and moments....if the sport has it....I stand. All sports have stand up moments if you enjoy the sport.....I'm not standing for hockey is the same as not standing for baseball.

High school football...stand. Can't sit. Gotta stand and cheer.

All others I'll sit most of the time.

Anyone who used to go to Tribe games in the mid-late 90s has stood up for an upcoming play. That place used to get crazy.

This.

If it's a natural reaction, I stand. If the game doesn't entertain me to the point of making me excited. I sit and watch.

I prefer stand for football games, but I can understand that some people can't.

One of the funniest things I've seen involved a pair of Penn State fans in the shoe. The guy was about 60 years old and the girl in front of him was in her early 20's. He complained because she was standing, but she ignored him. So he stomped all over her seat with his muddy shoes. Not sure what that solved, but I definitely lol'd at them.

There's nothing more [at a sporting event] that pisses me off when someone stands up and the person behind them pisses & moans about that individual standing up and cheering for their team. This isn't a freaking play/movie/musical/etc. It's a SPORTING EVENT! #GetYourOldWrinklyAssOutofHere

I would probably only stand during a baseball game if it was in the playoffs, or if it was a pitcher trying to get his final out for a complete game or no-hitter. Otherwise, baseball is too long, too boring, and two meaningless. There are like 20 games left in the season and all of the playoff races are over.

I was at a high school playoff game last fall and the game went into overtime. A guy game down right near the end of the game and stood up right in front of me. I was standing also, but this guy was pretty tall and was blocking my view of where the play was happening, so I asked him if he could take a step to the side so that I could see. He then proceeded to tell me that I wasn't concerned about his view when I chose to stand up while he was sitting behind me. I then told him that this was overtime during a playoff game and that if he didn't want people standing up in front of him that he needed to either move (plenty of empty seats in the upper corner of the bleachers where he could have seen) of that he needed to stand along the fence.

Drives me nuts. IF you aren't here to cheer, scream and make noise for your team, GTFO and give your ticket to someone who will. Thats what home field advantage is for.

The only thing that pisses me off is when you're in a section, and there is literally only 1 person standing; especially when it's 2nd and 5 from your own 30 in the middle of the 3rd quarter. Nothing is really going, so why are you standing.

I love standing at a game, but if seriously 1 out of 1,000 people are standing, don't be that 1 douche and stand.

I was at the first game of the Reds/Yanks series. Reds went on a run in the bottom of the 9th, I stood up to cheer them on. Couple behind me (Reds fans, mind you) asked me to sit down. I just said no and returned to my cheering.

999 people in that section need to give up their tickets.

I disagree 100% Like I said, I would much rather stand at a game, but there is no reason to stand at that point. Is my ticket more valuable than the other people behind me? No, so who am I to block their view?

I've gotten pissed at old people who tell me to sit down, don't get me wrong. I was at the Michigan OSU game back in 2009. It was the opening kickoff, and a boney finger tapped me in the shoulder "Sit down, please." "Um, do you see the 5,000 people in front of us standing? No, I won't sit down." "Well, either sit down, or I'm getting the usher." "Go get him."
