Apparently Nike is going to release various versions of this shoe over the next couple years, building up to 2015 when the shoes are actually supposed to be able to power lace.

Nice interview with the BTTF writer: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1670475/back-to-the-future-air-mcflys.jhtml

Would love to have a pair (they are sweet looking shoes), but if THIS first generation is starting off at $5k, I can't even imagine what the "final" generation will cost.

I did, what did you not understand about what I said? I said it's a nice ploy by Nike to get 1500 idiots to pay way more than the shoe is worth. I don't care who or what the money is meant to benefit, people will still overpay for those shoes. So please explain to me what you think I didn't understand.

Anyone who purchases a shoe that costs over $30 is overpaying for what it's worth. Like Michael J. Fox said on Letterman, this shoe appeals to three groups of people: The shoe fanatics, the back to the future fanatics, and people who care about curing Parkinson's. Sounds like a win all around to me.
