I hate the assholes that drive all the way to the flashing arrow to merge, but I get more pissed at the pussies that let them in. Fuck them.O-Trap;885781 wrote:People who see a merge sign a fucking mile ahead of time and DON'T ... FUCKING ... MERGE!
Or even more, the limp dicks who let these people in!
I may be guilty of that. I always like to see how much time I can shave off of the estimate.thePITman;887312 wrote:And people who use a GPS everywhere they go! Even if they've been there 100 times.

Things like that can run pretty smoothly if people weren't idiots. There is no reason to merge a mile before the two lanes become one - it makes the wait longer for everyone aside from the few cars already at the front. If two lanes use some common sense and alternate, by the time you are at that point what does it cost you to let someone go in front of you? About five seconds? Some of the jackass stories on here (people blocking the second lane, etc.) are the exact reason those signs are necessary.ts1227;887603 wrote:On 376 in PA driving to PIT airport, they actually have signs up telling you when to merge on one project.
The first set says to stay in your lane and wait until the merge point, then the set by the closure says do it now and wait your turn.
I don't know what is dumber, the signs in general or the fact that they tell you to wait until the last second.
I disagree. If you merge a mile before the lane disappears, there will be more space in between each car, and you can merge while on the go, only slowing down a few miles per hour. But when you go all the way to the end, you are literally merging from a stand-still if you had to wait for someone to let you in. Merging earlier keeps the flow of traffic consistent (albeit a little slower) as opposed to totally stopping traffic and turning it into a 2-way stop sign at the merge point. Drives me nuts.enigmaax;887700 wrote:There is no reason to merge a mile before the two lanes become one
I don't believe you'd have to completely stop if everyone knows the merge is approaching. That just takes a little awareness and even if a car does have to stop here and there, its better than the idiots who either a) decide they're the merge police and draw the line where they see fit just to be an asshole (god forbid someone drive an extra half mile past me) or b) do fly past everyone and then try to squeeze in when they suddenly run out of room.thePITman;887723 wrote:I disagree. I mean, I look and am aware of oncoming vehicles. But I don't wait for them. I'm not going to just not look before I cross but I will cross if I have the right away even if a car is coming. That fucker can stop. If he doesn't I'm always paying attention and will be able to move and in that case I'm getting the douche's license number and that asshole will be hearing from the cops.Pick6;886615 wrote:Obviously.

He completely recovered but damn thaty a tough way to earn your money and it was one of the loudest sounds ive ever heard. If I have the right away as a pedestrian I am walking.

True. Also true for the idiot getting on the highway ahead of me: one of the names for the lane you're in is the acceleration lane, fucking accelerate.Anna-Town;888228 wrote:Some moron about drilled me this past weekend because he dosn't know the law....
When you are merging onto the highway ... It is YOUR JOB TO YEILD to cars already on the highway.
I get over for people if I can, but if there is someone to the left of me i'm not slamming on my breaks to get out of your way.
