Over the last two decades or so, the opponent they dominated this week has been vastly better than Nebraska. Vastly. Pre-season rankings are a joke, and that the 'holers were good a thousand years ago, so the all-time thing is pretty much meaningless as well. You GTFO.

Nebraska has sold out every game for what, 40-plus years? They just enhanced their financial opportunities by joining the B1G - they aren't hurting for exposure. Why would they pay way above their own going rate just so Boise can try and earn a spot at the table? Or, what added value does Boise bring to Nebraska's schedule that Nebraska needs?
From Boise's perspective, the deal offered is tilted way too far to accept when you're talking about what is currently a second-tier program. If they get back to the elite program they used to be, the deal offered might make sense. Bottom line, Saturday, they played what may or may not be a better team, but at this moment in time, is without question a better program.

I'm not sure I would go with vastly better, but I looked back to 2002 (that's as far as ESPN goes and I'm too lazy to look for another source) and Georgia is better than I expected.

Nebraska
2010 10-4
2009 10-4
2008 9-4
2007 5-7
2006 9-5
2005 8-4
2004 5-6
2003 10-3
2002 7-7

73 - 44

Georgia
2010 6-7
2009 8-5
2008 10-3
2007 11-2
2006 9-4
2005 10-3
2004 10-2
2003 11-3
2002 13-1

88 - 30

Nebraska has had 4 seasons of less than 9 wins in the past 41 years

And the inevitable arbitrary line of when college football started to matter has been drawn.

It has? Who said that's when it started to matter? Didn't it already start when QCB said "last 2 decades"? Fine, I'll use all the data on Wiki, 6 seasons of less than 9 wins in 49 years. That make it any better for ya?

Why not talk about Nebraska's 20-8 to Georgia's 14-12 in the last 2 years or the fact that Georgia has won less games than the year before for each of the last three seasons? Nebraska improved two straight years and held at 10 wins last year. To say that Georgia is "without question the better program" is quite a bit off and they are definitely going in opposite directions.

I wanted to go with queencitybuckeye's last two decades until I realized ESPN only went back to 2002 and got lazy. :)

I honestly just stopped when I saw a season under 9 wins in 1968. They had a streak of 33 seasons with 9 or more wins ending in 2002

Nebraska was 111-15 from 1992-2001. Don't think you wanna go there :p

randomly saying 41 years? ok I can see how you would go back 41 years, but not 43. Not 35 either, exactly 41.

Georgia has been vastly better over Nebraska the last 2 decades...lmao. Nebraska has more national titles in the last 2 decades than Georgia has conference titles in that time period.

Georgia was something like .600 during a time period that Nebraska was .881 with 3 NC's lol

LOL @ SEC fans comparing Nebraska to Georgia. Nebraska would finish ahead of Georgia and most SEC teams year in year out in the SEC, and now they are bottom feeder in the Big Ten. SEC "best conference" my ass.

I don't see Georgia anywhere on this list but I do see Nebraska listed not once but twice in the top 5:

Not a legitimate list if 2001 Miami isn't top 3 ;)

Ha ha. Boise's favorite mouthpiece summarizes their situation perfectly.

"I love playing early in the season in games like this," Boise State's Byron Hout said following Saturday's gouging of Georgia. "It sets the tone for the rest of the season. It's a taste of what a big bowl game can be like with this type of atmosphere. If you can do the right thing you can find yourself in another event like this at the end of the season."

Win one big game early and you can play one more at the end of the season. What do you do for 11 games in between?

Boise has a pretty sweet deal. Win one game a year and get an 8 figure payout.

They won 11 games in the regular season last year. I don't think they got an 8 figure payout, though.

When you only play 1 game a year, you can't have any bad losses mixed in there.

Oh, well you said they need to win 1 game so I wasn't sure. Losing on the road on a missed FG in OT to a team that finished 13-1 and 15th in the country is a bad loss? I see.
