The question is -- PAROCHIAL LEAGUE. If you are willing to play those teams annually , why not a league of them ?? And since most of the publics are dropping playing you during the regular season, if you want to compete for a league title in sports, why not a parochial league?? You are going to end up playing, for the most part, an entire schedule of parochials. I think I know the answer, but just giving the good parochial folks their chance to express their thoughts on forming a parochial league as I get tired of hearing them whine annually.

It is about setting up local leagues where you can play against the people you grew up knowing. Ask the kids from Poland or Canfield if they would like the chance to play against Mooney. Ask the kids from Girard, Hubbard, or Liberty if they would like the chance to play Ursuline. Most of the kids would love the chance to play their neighbors.

The schedule that Urusline and Mooney plays does an excellent job preparing them for playoff competition. If some of the local public schools were to improve their schedule, they would have more playoff success.

It is very clear that you are anti-Catholic. Most people just want to see local teams play each other. Many people from Fitch and Boardman regret the decision to leave for the Federal League. Not only do they have to drive farther, but the level of their football programs went down once they started playing an easier schedule. Back when they were in the SVC, Boardman made it to the state finals. Fitch knocked off Iggy's in the playoffs in the middle of Iggy's championship run. Now Fitch and Boardman hope to qualify for a watered down playoff system. Their plan to dominate a weaker conference hasn't worked out too well either.

What's the big deal about a league title. I'd rather have a state title than win the svc aac or any other league. If you have the answer either share it with us or shut up.

You mean you would like to have a conference like the AAC that has been divided up into so many divisions that almost everyone wins a title?

Can you read? I said a state is all I care about. Is it nice to win a conference yes, but in the end there is only one trophy that matters.

Are you saying league titles mean more that state titles? Most leagues aren't balanced, the same small group of teams tend to win most conferences.

What league is out there for Mooney or UHS to join?

Are you guys just slow learners ?? The thread was started to talk about a league for Mooney/Ursuline. You don't win titles every year either. Leagues are set up for competition, honors, etc. Neither parochials are going to be asked to join a public league. Hence, if you really want a league ( and I doubt you do), a league of parochials in NEO is available to be organized.

I let some earlier comments go -- I AM Catholic & so is the wife. For fair competition, your like -minded competition is other parochials and thats what you will have to schedule. League or not.

But, poor little sisters of the poor, who sport all star teams made up players from 5 to 10 area communities( or another county) ,like to play a team made up just of A community. The thought of playing other all star teams in a league is a risk, much risky than the alternative. The point has been made, but you continue to duck the compeitive situation you "say" you want for your players. You don't really want a league as one is available with other parochials if you really wanted to organize it . Take that current SVC and send out your invitations to Iggy, Eds, Benny, Lake, etc. Thats your best ( and only) shot at a league. And if not, pack your bags and globetrot. Enjoy.

You are a very slow learner. It has been explained to you many times that leagues are set up based upon geography. If the public schools in the area wanted to improve their programs, they would improve their schedules. The schedules that Ursuline and Mooney play prepare them for the post-season. Other teams are more interested in just qualifying for the playoffs. Look how far the programs at Fitch and Boardman have fallen since they left the SVC for an easier schedule. Most of the AAC schools lose early in the playoffs (often to other public schools) because they don't play anyone all year. It isn't about Catholic or public, it is about playing a quality schedule to improve your teams. Ursuline lost to Mooney this year, but that game made them a better team and helped them to win the state. If more area teams played that type of schedule, they would do better in the playoffs. I know several players on a few of the public schools, and they would love the opportunity to play Urusline or Mooney. Unfortunately, there are too many adults like you that ruin it by their hatred of Catholics.

7 of the teams CMHS played this year were "allstar teams". Why would we be affriad to play in a league with these teams? You really have no clue do ya pal?

Does it matter if Mooney plays Cincy Moeller in a league or just during the regular season? Why does it have to be in a league? Maybe you are the slow learner. It took Boardman a few years to realize that the money to be made by playing Mooney was worth it. Maybe the rest of the local teams will see the same $.

Don't count on it. Its pretty simple -- the publics have moved on. You may get a game or two here or there, but a league of public schools for you ?

Look around the state -- where there are no problems with parochial schools, many find themselves in leagues with the publics. Where there are problems -- you don't get into a league with public schools. The alternative is a parochial league. Thats your only option for a league.

Those schools that chooes to be in leagues with quality schools (public or private) have developed some very good programs. In the Mahoning Valley, most of the teams have joined weak conference and don't have much post-season success. The question is would you rather
1) play no one all year, go 10-0, and lose in first or second round of playoffs, or
2) play a tough schedule, maybe have a loss or two, and be prepared to make a long run in the playoffs.

The AAC is a conference that chooses option 1
The MAC is a conference that chooses option 2

Some schools have bigger goals than setting up a schedule where you can go 10-0 every year.

Most schools join a league for competitve reasons, easy scheduling, post -season honors and prep them for the play-offs. You can pat yourself on the back all day long for all I give a crap. There isn't anything competitive where either parochial in Ytown is concerned. And many of the big schools have no problem playing big school powers --Massillon, McKinley, Hoover, Mentor, Glenville,etc. Its one town's school against another town's school, not vs a collection of all stars from 6-8 communities ( and maybe another county) with tuition being paid by a "scholarship" program. You don't really want a league and most don't care what you think about area schools being tough or not. If you weren't the wimps most think you are, you'd oragnize a parochial league for all the above reasons. But you don't want that because that would produce losses on a competitive basis and compare you with others in a league ranking. Might even cost you a playoff berth. So, drone on. No one much gives a crap what you think. Thats why everyone has moved on, except you whiners. Theres a league for you if want it with parochials. If you don't want that, play globetrotter.Travel out of state, go to Columbus & Cincinnati if the parochials will play you there. You could lock up quite a few games in NEO with the other parochials, or not.

Those "wimps" as you called them have owned the public schools in Ytown for many years. They will continue to play "globetrotter" to fill their schedules. When the school that you support grows a pair like Boardman did then give the AD at Mooney or Ursuline a call. Until then be content with your fluff schedule and your one and done in the playoffs. You are right about one thing though, I don't give a crap about schools that don't or won't man up and play the best, whether they be public or private.

You are correct there. They all want to create 10-0 schedules in the Youngstown area. I can't argue that they create their leagues with easy schedules in mind.
