Simple really. If you owned a nice home, would you trash it, or trash some shit hole that you won't have to clean up?

Id take ASU over OU in a heartbeat.

Especially since its not cold 1/2 the year, and the girls make OU's look pretty pathetic lol

It's completely arbitrary. It's just whoever goes to their site to vote, lol
The Princeton Review bases its "Top Twenty Party Schools" list on "a combination of survey questions concerning the use of alcohol and drugs, hours of study each day, and the popularity of the Greek system".

I went to more parties than bars while I was at OU, I will admit that. I just dont think there is much of a difference between the two, once you get inside its the same thing.

Yes, however it is still a matter of who goes to their site to take said survey. The way I've always understood it is they don't randomly sample, it's whoever goes out of their way to it out.

I went to OU as an undergrad. I earned my graduate degree from Ohio State. I was born and raised in Columbus, so I have ample experience with both.

Surveys aside, I know what I see. Ohio State is a fine school. I have a great deal of pride in my graduate degree and I learned a great deal from that coursework. I also had an excellent experience at OU as an undergrad. I received an education there that has benefitted me ever since.

To say Ohio is "one of the worst schools in the country" is not accurate whatsoever. As far as worthless majors and courses, I have plenty of friends and a spouse who spent countless hours in OSU classes with >100 other students being led by a TA who couldn't speak English. The point is that there's excellence and mediocrity at both places.

Like I said, Ohio State is a fine school. It also suffers its share of embarrassment. Currently it looks to the nation like a football factory first and foremost - one that is led by an total nerd. Before you get too high on yourself, remember it's not Harvard or Oxford you're attending.

Yes, it is denigrating to OU when it is referred to as Harvard-on-the-Hocking.

No one that means anything in the world of business, or academia, thinks that, and those are the people that decide the value of the degree. Not a bunch of slack-jawed yokels that watch ESPN all day and associate the football team with the quality of the education.

Gordon Gee? He certainly qualifies as a nerd I suppose, but wouldn't that be a good thing for a University President?

brb having one of most respected Presidents in country is a bad thing.

meh, in terms of undergraduate education, it's the same as any other place. One renowned department (business) and a few other decent ones. Where they make their name above others is at the graduate level.

US News & World Report would disagree with that. An advantage of OSU other than its facilities is its location in regards to Columbus. It allows OSU students to have access to a large midwestern city with a large amount of companies that are headquartered there. Allows for a lot of internship and job opportunities. Combine that with the obviously large alumni base (helps with networking) and you have a university that provides a lot of benefits.

Honestly, with most majors you don't really learn that much valuable stuff within the classroom (at any university). Book smarts only take you so far. Networking, opportunity, and experience are more important in the "real world" IMO, that's where OSU stands out.

I don't think he qualifies as that. He's there because Les Wexner wanted him back. He's a great fundraiser. He was brought back against the wishes of many solely to increas the endowment. There's more to good leadership than glad handing rich guys. His recent action on the Tressel matter sums up perfectly what's wrong with him. And it isn't the first time. I remember very well his first stint as el presidente. He was an embarrassment then as now. I'm an OSU alum and I look forward to his retirement.

The problem with all this is no one cares about your opinion, and the majority of publications/people who matter think very highly of him.

I care about my opinion. A lot of people may like him. A lot of other people think he's a joke.
