Reviews are shit for Gangster Squad....disappointing. I may still check it out, I love mob movies.

Initially I was hyped on it, then I saw the trailers, and how much they were pushing the ads weeks in advance. Then saw the release date....never a good sign when a movie with a seemingly good cast is put out AFTER the oscars. Wow Gangster Squad is losing the box office battle to Zero Dark Thirty and Haunted House. I understand Zero Dark Thirty but npt Haunted House. I sure hope the funny stuff was left out of the previews because I thought it looked dumb.

I've read maybe two or three good reviews of Gangster Squad. I'll wait until it's on Netflix, because that's where most newer shitty movies go.

Django was okay at best. Schultz was very good and Foxx and Dicaprio were both good. But frankly this is the fourth revenge film for Tarrantino ( five if you count the Kill Bills as two seperate films). There is absolutely nothing new or original here. I remember how I felt in awe as I sat in the theatre and watched Pulp Fiction the first time. Kind of sad that he's become predictable and, frankly, not that funny anymore.
Lincoln was pretty good. I'm a big fan of books on Lincoln and generally think he's about as fascinating a guy as any in history. This film does a pretty good job of capturing this and - as state in this thread - DDL is outstanding. I found DDL's Lincoln voice surprising. I have researched it a bit after seeing the movie and I had nev realized he did has a higher, nasally voice. Anyway, good film.

I tried reading the excerpts of the critics' reviews on Rotten Tomatoes of Gangster Squad and most of them didn't make a lot of sense to me. I'm sure if I read the whole column I would understand but I still plan to see it so I'm trying not to read too much.

Bigdaddy- I liked Gangster Squad. It was entertaining. It just fails as a mob movie. Too many not-meant-to-be-funny parts.

Saw Gangster Squad and Zero Dark Thirty the past 3 days.
Gangster Squad was much better than the reviews state, however, the reviews are terrible, which means this movie was ok. Pretty entertaining though.
ZDT was very good. As somebody else said, particularly the 2nd half of the movie.

Just got back from ZDT. Incredible. Still would give best picture to Lincoln though.

Zero Dark Thirty was really good, just not what I thought it would be, based on the previews. A lot more build up to the raid than I expected.
