Hard to think of two movies more impressive in the last ten years than There will be blood and No Country.

Agreed..need more of those, and less of remakes just to put $ in Hollywood's pockets.

Problem is...the comic book movies and fruity vampire movies make a lot of money....along with well known reboots

Quality is not what the studios care about

Skyfall looks awesome and WIR looks amusing, but I'm not sure if I'm too old for that movie. I don't want Chris Hansen to show up half way through lol

You're not too old for Ralph.

Yeah that's what I was saying by putting more $ in Hollywood...they're getting paid they don't care that the quality of the movies are pretty bad.

From an acting perspective I would agree. There were some underwhelming Oscar winners and nominees over the last decade. But I'd put The Departed and Inglourious Basterds up with these two.

Absolutely.

Enjoyed, but not for such a list.

Yeah, I couldn't put Inglorious on this list either. I didn't care for it the first time I watched it mainly because I caught it at the drive in and I couldn't read the susbtitles. It was just a bad experience. I watched it again when it came out on dvd and was more entertained but I can't say it belongs on the same list as Departed, There Will Be Blood, and No Country.

Anyone excited for Django Unchained?

I've been looking forward to it all year, but saw the trailer at Skyfall and wasn't overly excited about it. Still probably see it though.

I am curious about it. It doesn't look good, but I usually like Tarantino movies.

I'm expecting big performances. It might not be Tarantino's best script but I think it will be one of the better films of the year.

I'm interested in it. I generally like Tarantino movies and I'm a big DiCaprio guy.

I was wondering when you would rush to Tarantino's defense.

Not saying this to you directly, but, do some of you not watch movies just for entertainment? It seems like some of you act like every movie you want to see has to be some kind of Oscar worthy movie or else it's shit. Just curious about that. That's the perception I get with a couple people when reading through this thread. Is Red Dawn going to go down as a movie masterpiece? No. Of course not, but I do agree that it looks like it will be a good movie to pass a couple hours of time watching.

If I am going to spend upwards of 15$, yes, I expect to really, really like the movie. I will watch the other movies like Red Dawn when they come out to HBO/Showtime or when I can watch them for about 2$ on VOD. I like being entertained and will watch movies that arent amazing. But going to the theater for them is usually not gonna happen. Really has to be nothing else going on that night.

There are so many really good movies out there, that I don't want to spend time/money on something like Red Dawn or a new reboot of spiderfail. That being said I am a sucker for kung fu movies. Hence Man with Iron Fists.

Eh, I didn't really think about that I guess since I don't go to the movie theatre.
