3D is good if it's relevant to the enjoyment of the movie, i.e. movies that rely a lot on special effects and action sequences.
But churning out movies in 3D just to make extra money from the people willing to see anything in 3D is annoying. For instance, The Great Gatsby movie this winter is in 3D. Why? So we can see

If 3d were the same price as 2d i wouldn't mind, but i don't think it's worth the extra couple buck. I just bought my opening night tickets for the dark night rises, pretty stoked about that.

3D is pretty good when the movie, plot, director, actors, lighting, etc, etc. etc. are all on board. In otherwords, you are making the movie for 3D, not making the movie and just using the 3D cameras for certain scenes to call it 3D.
Avatar and some of the cartoons (which I never saw...Alice in Wonderland, for example) would be the only ones with a positive effect. The other movies, the depth perception doesnt do enough, especially when it is half-assed. Its so much more expensive to shoot in 3D, so studios take short-cuts and only film a portion of it in 3D, then charge the extra price. That pisses me off more than anything.
Avatar was made for 3D, and I respect Cameron for that, and respect what the movie was about aesthetically.

the only reason i go to see movies in 3D is because i have the marcus passport and doesn't cost me anything extra.
i agree with everyone who says it's stupid if it doesn't actually add anything other than random scenes adding something coming at you.

I'll pass on that. I don't see movies often enough to make that worthwhile at all. I don't like paying extra for 3D and I don't like wearing stupid glasses while I watch tv/movies either -- unless I needed them to actually see. The 3D stuff hurts my eyes and head sometimes. I always have to take the glasses off and rub my eyes periodically throughout the movie.
I've seen one movie that did 3D well and that was Avengers. Unless you want to count Jaws 3D...:rolleyes:

When I was single I would easily see 2 movies a week. I wish I had known about this then. (assuming it existed then) My favorite theatre is also a Marcus theatre so that would have worked out really well for me.OSH;1222639 wrote:$25 a month! No way, Jose.

The closest theater to me is Marcus. My girlfriend and I both live seeing movies. Basically, we have to see 3 regular regular priced movies to make the passport worth it and we always do.

I rarely go to the movies. I enjoy a premiere every once in a while. Occasionally I'll seek out to watch a gem as well. I watch most of mine on DVD.

Doesn't really cost that much money to go see a movie..little bit of gas (for me, I take a train so no gas $ needed) and a $7-$12 ticket depending on how much it is at your local theatre. I did the same thing as that Marcus pass but for AMC theaters when I lived in NJ last year. I probably went 3 times a week for my first couple months there without knowing too many people. For every $100 you spend on tickets AND concessions, you get $15 for free. I had $60 of free credit by month 5 because I didn't spend the free $15 right away...so when I started going once or twice a month, I went for free. It was awesome and it only cost $11 a month to do that.

The luxury of being in a small town, $3 for 2D movies and $6 for 3D movies. Popcorn is $1 or $1.50 and drinks are the same.
Sure beats anything that Marcus passes offer.

I wish there was the same type of deal for Regal Cinemas. I live like a half mile away from the theater and cruise over every time I get bored.

went and saw ted tonight. i got a kick out of it, but couldn't enjoy it entirely because of the trash that was in the theater being noisy.

Yeah, it still happens. While it is nice to have cheap movies, the selection isn't always the best. But, they do have the premieres of all the big movies: Avengers, Harry Potter, Star Wars 3D, etc. So, seeing a midnight premiere 3D of Avengers at $3 plus whatever for popcorn and drinks...can't really beat it.SportsAndLady;1222973 wrote:Only one screen? lol wtf
