I'm hearing this as well here in town, which is a shame. Laci was 2 years behind me in HS. What does talking shit to Jerry's wife and younger kids in Ohio accomplish? People are fucking dumb.

Is there any doubt at all that rock_knutne is part of the harassment?

Maybe an .000001 percent change he isn't. Before the season he was loudly saying he didn't follow them because of the ownership's poor track record, but since they're showing the ability to contend for well over half the season, that probably has changed.

Also I haven't seen a replay that shows conclusive evidence that the swipe ever touched the runner. Probably did but replay wouldn't help ya. In other words, keep cryin' Pi$$burgh. I love the sound.

It ain't just Pittsburgh fans complaining about it.

Just sayin'.....

Are there really people still saying he didn't tag him? Good God, people will argue anything.

I agree it is the only way to tag someone out

It looked like the in person harassment leveled off in a hurry, fortunately.

I drove near the house after work (stayed on the main road that leads to it, no reason to go any closer), and there wasn't a soul in that immediate area. Hopefully the phone calls let up too.

Article from the Salem News regarding threats:
http://salemnews.net/page/content.detail/id/544615.html

Also, it looks like most of the calls were from PA and WV, with people too stupid to block the caller ID, lol.
It has occurred in the past, "but not to this extent," the police report said, noting she advised of receiving in excess of several hundred calls since 2 a.m. Most had caller ID that was not blocked which Emigh (Perry Twp. Police chief) said, "is going to make it easier for us."

"The majority of calls are from Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Maryland ... none that I can see are from Ohio ... we're still going through them," he said explaining that one out-of-state caller asked if Jerry was home and when the answer was "no" they knew they had the right house.
Unfortunately, this also clears rock_knutne's name since none seem to be from OH :(

I don't think people assume he was out because the throw beat him. People assume he was out because he was tagged on both the leg AND the arm before his foot ever came close to touching home plate.

at what point was he tagged on the arm? It does look like it from the camera behind the plate, but from the view from down the first base line there is no way he was tagged on the arm. You can't be certain the tag on the leg was applied for the same reason.

I'll say this: it's not definitive that he was tagged out. Was he safe? Eh, all I know is it wasn't definitive he was out. It appeared he was tagged on the leg, but it also doesn't appear that any part of the pant moves.

Honestly, I blame the catcher. In that situation where the throw beats the runner that badly you MUST slap the glove down. The catcher swiped, and the result was a safe call. It's nearly impossible to say definitively one way or another which way the call was, but it can be said for sure that if the catcher applies a HARD tag on the runner, he's out. That's all I'll say.

It's time for him to join Jim Joyce on my list of umpires that should be forced to retire. ;)
