The LSU infractions include two 10.1 violations. One by a prospective student athlete, the other by an asst coach. Both are gone.

RT @CecilHurt: If LSU is cited for "major" violations, that will leave only one SEC football program without such violations since 1987.

Why would ESPN report negative involving the SEC?

Come on enig, even you should realize that these aren't just 'tweets on the internet' this is a press release from the NCAA about a press conference at 3 pm today which they will reveal what their investigators found while at LSU. Two seperate 10.1 violations are being mentioned here.

ESPN does not have to cover everything..yes. But they should at least be a bit consistent.

I look for there to be close to a dozen schools under probation by the start of next season (2012). With how much digging there is, more and more will come up.

People said the same shit about Oregon when Yahoo posted their article. ESPN had something in about 2 hours. Hilarious how every time there's a rumor about something anymore it takes about 5 seconds for someone to piss and moan about some ESPN conspiracy. They aren't just going to copy and paste someone else's shit.

Hell, this is all the AP has done as far as I can find:
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP)—The NCAA has scheduled a conference call to discuss LSU’s 2009 internal investigation into improper contact between an ex-coach and former player.

A person familiar with the situation tells The Associated Press that the call concerns LSU’s probe of former receivers coach D.J. McCarthy’s dealings with defensive lineman Akiem Hicks, a junior college transfer who never played for the Tigers. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the NCAA is not publicly discussing the matter before the announcement.

McCarthy resigned in late 2009. LSU has asked the NCAA to accept self-imposed punishments that include the loss of two scholarships and a reduction in official visits.

I'm not saying ESPN should have it up right away...but your response was a bit over the top.

If the NCAA wants to put in the work, they could have every Division 1 school under probation. There is illegal stuff going on in EVERY big money business, and major college athletics is no different.

Call me what you will, but I strongly believe that Ohio State should ban espn from covering their athletic events. They need Ohio State more than Ohio State needs them. Send a message.

ESPN is not Twitter. They don't post 140 character blips of information, the post articles. They also report news when there is new. An announcement about a press conference happening later in the day does not deserve an article. When the press conference happens ESPN will have something up on their website shortly.

@GerdOzone LSU made/received about 3,000 more impermissible phone calls than Kelvin Sampson did, and that's combining OU and IU.

DJ McCarthy, former WR coach, helped Akiem Hicks with rent on an apartment the summer before he enrolled. Les found out and Hicks sat the bench the whole season and was released after. McCarthy was also let go. LSU imposed 4 scholarship losses over two years. NCAA is now deciding whether the punishment was appropriate. No reason to expect more unless they feel like going on a power trip.

Timing of NCAA's LSU sanctions suggests: 1. This relates to asst coach D.J. McCarthy. 2. NCAA has a second investigation ongoing into LSU.
As much as I would like to see LSU get hammered, nothing to see here move along

I HATE to defend LSU, and I don't have all the information.... But if it's true they had a coach giving extra benefits and they fired him when they found out and then suspended the player for the season then I agree there is nothing to see here. What do you want a school to do? They can't have eyes and ears everywhere. When they find out about something they punish the people responsible and move on.

I disagree. There are plenty of other media outlets. ND is an example of a major team that doesn't play on espn. The people of Ohio deserve better.
