And here it is...
University of Akron head men's soccer coach Caleb Porter announced Wednesday that he will be leaving the Zips at the end of the 2012 season to become the head coach of the Portland Timbers of Major League Soccer.

Disagree entirely. He had 1 job, and failed miserably.

You don't get hired and fired based on one weekend of qualifying. There's no way anyone would sign up for that. Porter and Klinsmann have a much closer relationship than that. Again, the US was playing with a much more depleted roster than ANY other team in qualifying. Not an excuse, but the truth. I think they still should've qualified, but I also think that US Soccer should've done a better job in promoting the qualifiers instead of putting them in Nashville and getting <5,000 fans at each game. Stupid.

One weekend doesn't make or break your career with a team.

Reps. That's the truth.

I thoroughly enjoyed the 4-3 buck-a-brat night last Saturday. Bummed I missed this game (watching online), but I was watching BGSU and Michigan State go at each other.

Tottenham's third kit...released through a trailer for FIFA13 (I think).

Coaches that do qualify for major tournaments routinely get fired for 1 week of performances in the actual tourney. The fact that it was qualifying makes it worse, not better.

I don't care how long he had (but he was hired 5 months before qualifying, it's not like they gave him the job the day of the first match), overwhelming favorites didn't even get out of their own group for a major tournament that only happens every 4 years. That is grounds for dismissal.

Champions Leagues groups were drawn today, but I wont post them all here. Probably start a UCL thread for the season.

In the same ceremony, they had the UEFA POY voting today. Iniesta, Messi and Ronaldo were the 3 finalists. Andres Iniesta comes away the winner, in what has to be considered, a huge shock.

Really like that move for Clint. Spurs have a chance to be a top 4 team, and Dempsey should be able to crack the line-up and be a big part of their attack.

I thought, for sure, Nani was going to be in St. Petersburg this morning. No surprise he demanded tons of money.

I like him, but I won't miss him at United.

A few decent soccer matchups in the midwest this weekend. Akron vs Indiana and Akron vs Notre Dame. Both matches in South Bend.

The WC Qualifier at Crew Stadium finally sold out. I cannot wait to go to the game. I'll also be going to the training session on Sunday morning.

I do have one ticket available. If anyone still wants to go and doesn't have one.
