Only wearing them in the Champions League? Those are sick though.

Also, anyone see the Super Cup highlights (El Classico)?? Iniesta with a sick move and pass to Xavi for the 3rd goal. But the real highlight was Victor Valdes being a moron and giving Real a cheap goal late. Barca leads 3-2 heading into the 2nd leg.

So far, seeing my Red Devils rebounding nicely from the disappointing premiere for them. The new boys bagging their first goals of the season in red, RvP and Kagawa. Rafael just got the 3rd goal of the game already as I type.

I am hoping this success spills over to Columbus tonight...I'll be in attendance! Cannot wait. It's been too long.

Crew was down 2-0 but now up 3-2 thanks to Higuain on 2 free kicks that were awesome. Arrieta has the go ahead goal.

4-3 Crew now as Andy G. was pulled at some point. Arrieta again strikes after a Revs PK tied it up in the 80th.

4-3 final. Lampson in goal for Crew at the end with 3/4 huge saves.

I just read that Andy Gruenebaum was hurt. Surprised. It musta been when he had a huge gaffe on the second goal...he did come up grabbing his side.

Great game to watch live.

I must have missed where he got hurt. I'm sure his ego was a bit hurt though.

Some strong rumors going around that Caleb Porter (Akron's HC) has been offered the Portland Timbers job.

Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb.

I do not like it. I hope he doesn't go. He has the best job in college soccer, right now. He gets $270,000 per year with $80,000 in compensation on top. He gets multiple six-figures from his camps. His job is secure...forever. He gets players drafted. He is on staff with US Soccer. No need to jeopardize ANY of that.

Plus, if he leaves...he owes Akron $200,000 for breaking the contract. Please stay.

Oh, homegrown player, Matt Lampson will be starting for the Crew tomorrow at Philadelphia. It appears that Gruenebaum is out due to a bruised lower back he received in the game before last (would that be Houston?). Good luck Matt! Congrats on the first MLS appearance on Saturday and now the first start! Someone will be leaving this team and moving to another next season. I don't know if it will be Lampson, Hesmer, or Gruenebaum. They also have another GK that is on trial with them...to me, he's probably better than Lampson right now.

yeah, I obviously do not want to see him go, but I wouldnt mind it as long as he finishes the season (and hopefully another NC) and doesnt go to another college. Portland's FO seems to have some question marks, so I dont think it would be the best fit for him anyways. I hope if he is seriously considering it, Akron is doing all that they can to keep him.

I was shocked to hear that Portland did consult with him concerning their trade last week. That doesn't look very good, for Akron.

I can't think of this as a "smart" move. Not in his situation.

If he wants to progress it's a good move, IMO. I don't see a college coach making it to the top. He is already on thin ice with the U-23s and klinsmann as it is. Getting a job in pro soccer will help him with his, I assume, desire to progress through the USNT ranks.

Sounds like he accepted, for the record...according to Indiana Soccer.

Laley beat me to it. Look for an official announcement at 1:45est tomorrow. However, I'm hearing he is still coaching the Zips this season. He is a class act and I wish the best for him.

Akron probably has the current best soccer program in the country. I have no doubt that we will find a top replacement whether it is internally or external.

Looks like Lampson is going to get his first ever start for the Crew tonight!

I'll never forget scoring a hatrick on him in HS and a PK down the middle on him in club haha

He's very lucky to be on thin ice. Should have been canned for sure.

Hey! I announced that last night!

No way. He's not on thin ice. No way should he have been canned. It's not a good showing, but he saw the team for a weekend before he had the Olympic qualifiers. They were also playing with a much more depleted roster than any other team was playing with. Klinsmann wouldn't let him go after missing the Olympics. I am sure they've had numerous meetings/conversations/texts/emails/etc. since then and they are moving the whole structure of American soccer and the international team in the right direction.
