Probably his back. The old man can't hit a big league heater anymore.

Not sure he saw a strike the whole at bat.

I don't think the GM and the pitching coach are a problem. More the other two plus lots of un-smart play at the most ill-advised times, along with some bad breaks, like the Votto double that bounces and dlears the wall by about 4", costing them a 2 run lead.

IMO Walt has failed over the last 12 months. He may not have much cash to work with but look at the guys he's brought in. Edmonds, Gary Matthews, Renteria, Lewis, Hermida, Willis. Rolen and Arroyo extensions look terrible. Cueto and Cairo deals look very good. Bruce's still too early to tell. Couldn't get Votto locked up past arb. Took way too long to dip into Louisville this year.

The only 2 pitchers showing growth this year are Cueto and Leake. Cueto has Soto as a personal coach, I'll give Price some credit with Leake but he's obviously super talented.

The first game of the season Ramon hits a 9th inning HR to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat against a division rival. Brandon Phillips does the same thing to start the "2nd half" of the season!

I had seen Cozart about 20 times in person in Dayton and Louisville but he is really exceeding my expectations so far. Hope he can keep it up.

BP doing much better now that he's gone back to his power stance.

Euphoria reigns now, but the bad taste of some poor play in the game up to the winning blow remains in my craw.

A lot of stuff! Will teams ever learn that you can't pitch Heisey or Phillips low and in? Oh well!

Chapman....good God Ankiel.

Rolen gives very good at bats....but he knows he has to start early on any pitch over 92 mph. The slight bobble on the play where he elevated to stop it well over his head his momentum was going backwards and he could not have gotten Holliday at home.

Phillips had his worst game of the year until the HR

Bases loaded and Lewis up....ball thrown right at his thigh....take one for the team.

I thought at contact the Pujols HR off of Chapman was going to hit the scoreboard.

Phillips was a little much most of the way around the bases....I 'll be shocked if he doesn't get plunked early tomorrow.

Cozart is solid....but he must have traded Janish his spot for his power.

Fuck that, he was fine. If he gets plunked there will be a brawl. Big time.

If Carpenter hits Phillips, it's on. Then again, the Cards have to be very sour about their last two games with the Reds. It wouldn't surprise me. LaRussa is probably cranky after tonight and Carpenter is definitely a bitch.

I assume you were at the game. On TV on that play, you can't tell the relationship of the runner to the base as the player is fielding and throwing. Are you saying that even if Rolen would not have bobbled it, a throw home would have been too late for a tag play?

Did you see anything on the previous play that BP could have done to get a better out than the one he got at first? Was there a chance he could have fielded it in front of the baserunner, Berkman, and got the force on Pujols at home? Or maybe have gotten to the spot in the baseline before Berkman and made him stop and get a tag on him and the out at first also?

Good video....lol at the end. On that extremely similar play Pujols admired it for 2-3 seconds, but had his head down and going normal HR pace from take off until 1/2 way between 3rd and home...then did his quick step looking at only his teammates.

Phillips couldn't pose cause it wasn't a no doubter and he yelled and girated much of the time and appeared to be jiving at the Cardinals dugout just as he got around 3rd.

But most of all....LaRussa is known as the easiest to "show up" and I'll be surprised if they don't try to show the Reds who the big guys are ( which would be the Pirates)

Mhs95...Holliday had a good jump and Rolen's momentum going backwards after a full height jump....force play maybe but doubtful, tag play I say not much of any chance....gotta get an out there and get the hell out of the inning soon. Lewis sucked on the Pujols jam shot.

How does Pujols' ass taste? lol

Can you defend him for this, after his HR against Chapman?

Pujols, the rest of the Cardinals franchise, and their entire fanbase can all piss up a rope. The biggest bunch of hypocrites in sports.

I said what I saw....IMO Pujols was about a 6 or a 7 on the Chapman shot on a scale to 10....Phillips was a solid 9....but the reason again I think he'll get plunked is LaRussa. Disagree all you want.
