Ok trying to get this back on a serious note.
I think part of it is just the appeal of dating/being with someone different than what you are used to. It could also be because of the (negative or positive depending on how you look at it) stereotype that black women are very strong-willed and opinionated. It takes a strong man to handle a strong woman (of any race) and perhaps, as was mentioned, having a "weaker" white woman fawn all over you is appealing.
That said I am a white woman, and I don't want to portray myself as an expert on race relations of any kind.
With Tiger I think it was more a power thing. The excitement of being able to, so he thought, get away with the kind of behavior most of us can't.
