Hudson beat Findlay 35-28 in OT. They were down 21-7 late in the 1st half. Scored right before halftime, then eventually tied it with less than a minute in regulation. Scored on a flea flicker on the first play in OT, then shut Findlay down on four plays. Great game. Sounds like the Wadsworth game was similar. Should be a good match-up Hudson vs Wadsworth on Saturday.

About what I was expecting. McKinley to roll and SV to continue to struggle in D1. I think next year could be a big year for SV though. Didnt get to see the game, but I was getting updates. Who played well for each team?McKAlumni07;959626 wrote:Bulldogs win big 49-21 and shut out south view in the second half

SV was picking our secondary apart in the first half and since they onside kicked it on the opening kickoff they went up 7-0... McKinley took their first lead right before the half and made it 22-21 and never looked back. Glover, Mckinley's freshman running back, layer well for the bulldogs and they hit a couple home run plays to help them win. Whitmer also won so it. Looks like another Toledo area team for the Bulldogs next Saturday. Let's Go PuPsLaley23;959917 wrote:About what I was expecting. McKinley to roll and SV to continue to struggle in D1. In typical Mayzes fashion what was working in the first half he went totally away from it in the second half. The only way any year can be big for Southview is if Mayzes can get out of his own way. He needs to realize that he isn't the best coach with the best talent in D1. He flounders when he plays a team with talent that can match his and gets out coached. We went from a 3-4 defense that put heavy pressure on the McKinley QB by using several blitzes in the first half to the same defense that we ran against Springfield. Offensivley Gant played phenomenal he was unstoppable but oddly enough we stopped throwing to him until the game was out of hand, Bowers played well but he was double teamed most of the night, and Valdez got them the ball. Like the McKinley poster stated we shredded their defense in the first half. But in Mayzes fashion we came out in the second half in a bunch formation and attemted to run the ball when our passing game was so effective. Also they have to let Valdez choose his options at receiver and not make him focus on one receiver. Which in my opinion handicaps Valdez's abilities tremendously. That coupled with several athletes sitting on the sideline while playing an excellent McKinley squad that plays all of their players you get the 49-21 score. That's my two cents.Laley23;959917 wrote:About what I was expecting. McKinley to roll and SV to continue to struggle in D1. I think next year could be a big year for SV though. Mayzes needs to take power away from his OC, Demars. Demars was terrible as head coach at Springfield, he isn't any better at Southview as the OC.rmolin73;960059 wrote:In typical Mayzes fashion what was working in the first half he went totally away from it in the second half. Southview was totally unprepared for the second half. They gave too many second chances to McK with two botched punt recoveries in the first half that led to McK scores. You can't let a talented team like McK any chances like that. Those were huge momentum changers.
McK's size and speed wore SV down as the game progressed. Hopefully in seasons to come Demars has no input on the offensive playcalling because he is terrible.

Thats frustrating. I figured if SV tried to get Gant the ball he would be tough to stop. But SV just doesnt do it enough (or in this case stops). Tough to stomach.rmolin73;960059 wrote:In typical Mayzes fashion what was working in the first half he went totally away from it in the second half. I agree on Demars but I doubt it happens. Trust me the entire second half was tough to stomach. To make matters worse the kids were pleading with Mayzes to go into a zone defense for the secondary. He ignored them.

Boom. Whitmer wasnt even challenged. McKinley for a half. Chris Wormley still cant be blocked. Wadsworth ran the ball 28 times once I started keeing track (late first Q). 24 times AWAY from Wormley, 4 times AT Wormley. He still was in on a ton of tackles and had 3 TFL when they ran away from him and 2 TFL when they ran at him.Laley23;928250 wrote:I only get to see the Toledo teams play on a consistent basis. But Whitmer is going to rolllllll through this region imo. First time in...ever really....that I think a Toledo team has a legit shot versus Region I (Mentor, Iggy this year). No one can block Chris Wormley.
