Don't be so hard on yourself. Anyone who gets too worked up over this, one way or the other, is just overreacting. The coach did give you permission to film. I'm having a hard time seeing your mislap in judgement.

The scrimmage showed what the teams are.

Indian Creek will likely be in the hunt for a playoff seed, in Region 11. It should come as no surprise they bested Struthers.

Southern Local is a smaller school (D5), but they were a playoff team last year. They're likely going to take it on the chin a few times this year, with their star WR moving to QB... he's only a Sophomore.

Struthers has some talent... but they have new coaches, they're learning an entirely new O and an entirely new D, and they need to replace 16 starters from last year.

All 3 teams should have success this year though.

All in all... I'm just happy football season is around the corner... less than 2 weeks for HS, less than 3 weeks for college, and less than 4 weeks for NFL.

Duchek is at corner again for the third straight year i believe..... Wouldnt mind to see Kimbrough at the other saftey but knowing asher he doesnt have his quarterback play 2 ways.

I thought Duchek moved to FS this year... maybe they were just flirting with him at FS. Tommy should get some time at FS in the scrimmages, just to see how he does. If he's the best option, you have to play him both ways.

Thompkins played both ways in EL last year.

Duchek, Kunzer, Walker, Maillis, and Shaffer have all been playing since they were Sophomores.

Kimbrough and Stewart both lettered last year, as Sophomores.

That's really about it for their experienced players. The 2011 Sophomore class will have to grow up quick, fast, and in a hurry, and the inexperienced Juniors and Seniors need to fill in, play their roles, and contribute as needed.

my buddy told me struthers is having serious problems with the line on both sides of the ball...i dont know how accurate he is so i figured btrev could chime in. its to be expected if you lose your whole offensive and defensive line...at least thats what he told me? i thought they had some linemen return

I don't think Tommy will play D. Just the word around town though.
2 OL return. Shaffer and Walker. But shaffer is the only DL returning.

I don't think he'll play D either, but I do think it's worth a shot to see what he can do. The secondary is the strength of the defense, so he probably won't need to go both ways.

If the lines have struggled up until now, it shouldn't be a surprise. I think that once they get settled in though, they'll be alright. If they don't get things situated by Girard, it could be a problem.

Just my honest opinion.

Sorry, let my emotions get the best of me. Struthers has a lot of potential... They have some very nice athletes and decent size. Give coach Asher a few years, he will make the team a contender.

LOL WOOOWWW!!!! Yes and i also been told by someone that was there that it could have been 21-7 also... LOL how about that... If this is any indication of good things to come then i'm on board. I know it was only scrimmage but to take on the Big Red Machine at Death Valley and walk away with the lead is very good indications on your defence and offence.. Congrats Cats... Wow.. lol i really have to admit i thought the cats would get spanked... Hats of to the Cats.. See You all Week 10..

I'll say it...

"Struthers hasn't accomplished anything yet."

They still have a long long way to go.

Could this be the beginning of something great for the Cats, absolutely. Regardless of how Steubenville treats their scrimmages, a few years ago, Steubenville would've wiped the floor with Struthers. Huge strides have been made.

Still, this is definitely nothing to hang your hat on. There's bigger fish to fry than Steubenville, during a down year, in a preseason scrimmage.

The stage is set. It can either be a year to remember that makes Struthers Football relllevant again... or another year to forget full of never happeneds and could've beens.

Thank god Asher isn't like the other coaches to come through.. He actually knows what he's doing. LOL
I see big things from the CATS this season, and the BR preview game only gets me more excited.

Good luck to Struthers this season. You should be very supportive of coach Asher, the direction of the program and the attitude of the players and fans. I would maybe get the boosters to sell sun glasses at games, cause the future is going to be bright. Again good luck to the Cats.
