Rife was certainly profiting off of them if he's willing to just give them cars. Some people on here think it's ludicrous to believe that drugs were involved. And it's not a story if it's just one guy on the team selling drugs. It's an issue if there are several involved, which shouldn't be easily dismissed.

I absolutely believe drugs are involved. If you think college kids, many from the hood or troubled homes, hanging in a tattoo parlor with felons, didn't involve any drugs, you are pretty naive.

Now, whether it can be traced or not is the real question.

I don't doubt that they were getting some weed for memoribilia. I highly doubt that they were dealing.

Buying drugs is a crime you know.

Them dealing would have come out a LONG time ago, especially in the, you know, FBI investigation.

This is what I'm thinking. We're supposed to believe that SI has better investigative abilities than the Federal Bureau of Investigation? If that's the case we have a much larger problem in this country than whether or not college athletes should be payed.

Blah blah blah. I'll believe it when I see CCwinCC start a thread about it.

SI doesn't have to worry about the "innocent until proven guilty" thing. Very convenient for them.

I was under the impression that Rife refused to cooperate originally. Part of his plea deal is that he now has to fully cooperate so who knows what information is being shared.

They don't go digging and try to find players who are doing it. If they are charged that's one thing. But they are not going to investigate it.

The FBI is still investigating and only releases information when they feel that it won't interfere with their investigation. There are more agencies involved besides the FBI and NCAA, This is just getting started and it is already causing panic in Columbus and PA with many different people and businesses.

Was told all but one of the new guys names in SI were cleared by NCAA. And the one might yet be cleared.

I honestly am not surprised. The NCAA doesn't have any solid proof to work on, and they aren't the FBI

Welcome to the party. Better late than never I guess. It was obviously not true, but the rumor had made its rounds.

Well, this is interesting...
1. NCAA investigators are coming to South Florida this week to look into the recruiting of several high-school football stars and the methods of several colleges in doing so, according to a source.

Among the schools whose recruits are in question: Ohio State, Louisiana State, Auburn and Tennessee.

Yes, rest easy, Miami, Florida and Florida State fans. This isn't about you. The schools involved have been successful for years in getting players out of South Florida, and enough red flags have been raised about money changing hands in the recruiting process to merit the investigation, the source said.

High schools officials, street agents, seven-on-seven tournaments - they're all going to be asked questions by the NCAA.
