I do tend to agree. But if this SI article comes out, and there is more...then it wasn't the media pressure as much as it was the media coming up with more on Tressel. My POINT is that the pressure from the media stories was going to be too much for him to survive this, and it clearly was.
Remember: both Gee and Smith were firmly behind keeping him as a coach when this first broke.
As for Gee and Smith...from what I heard, they were in support. BUT Smith was PISSED after the press conference when Tressel did not apologize as he was pretty much ordered to. That may have been the beginning of the end as far any support from Smith and Gee.
