No matter what the article says, merely because of timing this guy will get and take credit for Tressel's resignation. Probably rightfully so

This is going to be a shitstorm. Prescott, I wasn't trying to take blame away from Tressel, I was merely noting that if the players dont' put themselves in the situation they did, Tressel has a job.

Yup....NCAA is about to hit this program with some serious punishment, and rightfully so.

JT ruined what was the premier program in College Football

Comparing the 2 isnt' exactly apples to apples. Carroll wasn't the center of the USC stuff, USC was. Tressel is the center of the OSU mess. He needed to go, and took the "honorable" way out by resigning. Carroll took the cowards way out by peacing out without acknowledging what happened as well as not taking blame once it came out what happened. I don't blame Carroll at all, he made out looking "not guilty".

Not a good comparison. Tressel will never coach again. Carrol had an opportunity. And I believe Tressel intentions in resigning were due to him knowing this was the right thing to do for OSU and the football program.

BS. OSU is OSU..that will not change. They will pull in a quality coach when they decide to.

He was asked to resign, and did so. Not sure I would call that "forced".

My god, it never ends. There is NOTHING honorable about Tressel's resignation. The honorable ship passed a long time ago when he took the 2 game suspension and then tried to save face by increasing it to 5 games. This is a "thanks for fucking us, see ya later" resignation and that is all.

As for the Carroll comparison, you got part of it right. He wasn't the center of the USC stuff. Why would he take the blame for it then?

Tim May used those exact words I posted while doing a phone interview on ESPN First Take just now. He said that Tressel was informed of the decision over the weekend.

Yeah, they were probably going to follow that up with, "oh, you don't want to? Okay, that's cool."

Could have been asked with the understanding that if he didn't, he would be fired. That's usually how that goes. You are arguing semantics.

In time, people will realize that what he did wasn't that bad. It was wrong, but the worst thing a coach can do is be a dirty recruiter and Tressel was not.

Will everybody be making excuses for Tressel when the NCAA comes down hard on the program?? Tressel's actions absolutely turn my stomach.

Minor bullshit...but if the University and he feel it's in the programs best interest then I'll go along with it. Sure as fuck isn't like they've not lost great coaches in the past and rebounded.

Okay, then my bad on your direct quote. The whole comparison to Carroll, where you make it seem like Tressel took some high road that Carroll didn't - sarcasm? Anyway, my response was also directed at this:
And I believe Tressel intentions in resigning were due to him knowing this was the right thing to do for OSU and the football program.

Sad to see the best coach in the country go, but don't worry Buckeye Nation, Ohio State will be back winning National Championships, BCS bowl games, Big Ten Championships, and other games that actually matter while other schools(Notre Dame, Florida, Alabama, USC, etc...) will still be average.

All we learned from all of this is how awesome Ohio State football has become, and we will continue to be THE premier academic and athletic university in the country.
