no you made a statement as if it was fact - just give me proof that him being on CC brings him down in the eyes of intellectual people on both sides...I don't know if you can.

I don't think I need a poll to show this. I hear it all of the time in various circles. It has been discussed at many places I frequent (gym, restaurants, parties etc). As far as the intellectuals in politics I couldn't tell you who takes him seriously. Like I said I can tell he is smart and knows what is going on but he should be on MSNBC. Whether you think MSNBC or Fox News are clowns or not doesn't much matter because they are still "news" organizations.

I don't think a poll is needed for this argument. I hear people say it all of the time at the various places I frequent (gym, restaurants, parties etc). Like I said he is a smart guy and seems to know what is going on but when you hit info on his show it says "comedy with a slant." Part of my own personal downgrade of him is because we aren't of the same political beliefs but I still give him credit. He just needs to be on a news channel instead of Comedy Central to be taken 100 percent seriously by the masses. As for the political intellectuals I couldn't tell you who takes him seriously. Just my opinion man. You are obviously close to the same political mindset as he and I can dig that. We probably also have different views on Fox News and MSNBC but that is what makes the country work like it does.

I think he wasn't making a claim of having scientific evidence of it, just noting that a show being on Comedy Central likely makes it so some automatically do not take it as seriously as shows on other networks even if it merits being taken seriously at times.

If Common was not black, based on the laws of probability, he likely would not be in his current life position and profession. Therefore, he would not have been invited to the First Annual Obama Free-style and Spoken Word on the White House Lawn event (not sure of the actual event name but I'm probably very close).

the odds of being as successful and famous as he are numerically insignificant at the race level - it would be like me or you having a .0000000000000001% chance of becoming a slam poet / rapper and a random black guy have a .0000000000000002% chance...and that's assuming race has any impact at all on your ability to rap or write poetry, which I don't think it does.

Actually, I just enjoy people who can bring common sense to a debate and don't harp on petty, stupid bs that gets us nowhere as a country. That isn't tied to a particular party. I agree with only about half of what Stewart says on his show (when he's not obviously doing shtick and trying to get a point across) in terms of policy/opinion or what have you, but I usually always enjoy the way he debates someone or covers an issue.

I'm talking about the connection between Common and Obama. Both are from Chicago and were members of the black Trinity United Church of Christ, led for the last 35 years by one Jeremiah Wright. This is not just a coincidence....and it's part of why Common got to lay down his rhymes at the White House.

that makes no sense. Common wasn't the only person invited. By that logic, they'd all have to have gone to the same church and all be black to be invited. put the tin foil hat back on you closet racist.

Not true. They obviously were not all invited for the same reasons. If you don't think Obama and Commons previous relationship played a part in his invite then you're either delusional or have some sort of agenda. Nice edit adding the last line, btw.

I have to say I agree with Steel valley on this one. Fergie getting invited to the WH isn't that big of a deal because she is a liberal who has said some pretty crazy things if I remember correctly. Look people don't have to believe our president harbors radical beliefs but if people do believe it you can't blame them and it surely doesn't make them racist.

Except Common is not the only "pretty fucking talented" rapper in the USA. Yet he was the only rapper invited?

If Common was not black he:

1) likely would not be an activist rapper poet...thus no WH invite.

2) more than likely, almost definitely would not be a member of the Trinity Church...thus no Obama connection. No invite.

3) would have at least one if not two parents who were not black, thus the current version of common ceases to exist. No invite.

Sorry, I think we are done here. If Common was not black he would not have been invited to the WH.

1. He would most likely not be a crappy arena rock artist....no invite

2. He would not have such white guilt that he constantly works and thinks about the problems in Africa...no invite.

3. If both his parents weren't white the current version of Bono ceases to exist. No invite.


What you're saying is retarded. You can change any number of variables about a persons life and have it be altered drastically therefore saying "if he wasn't.... he wouldn't have..." but that doesn't make it the underlying cause for something.
