It's amazing how much more reasonable the comedian is than the dude who's supposed to be a news analyst.

Amazing or sad?

Our current set up of news media is shameful and part of the reason the we have such a huge divide. I'm going to stop there as anything more said probably will get this too political and at that point we'd have to move forums.

Stewart has no point. There's no good reason for that rapper or any musician to be at the white house.

It was a poetry night. He's a poet. I don't get why that's wrong.

It's simply unnecessary.

I don't get why people hate Bill O'Reilly. If you are someone who hates biased people he sure isn't the person on the network to be against. Hannity is much more biased than O'Reilly. I don't think he got owned by Stewart either. I don't think people are saying a rapper shouldn't be at the White House. They are just pointing out that it's another person who has slightly radical views to visit. Just saying....

Unnecessary to have a poet at a poetry night?

No, it's not unnecessary to have a poet at poetry night. It is unnecessary to have a poet who defends cop killers though.

Nobody made a big stink about Johnny Cash being at the white house when Bush was there. Common is a saint compared to Johnny Cash

And Bush's father had Eazy E at the White House....I mean really?

Hes a good guy, who happens to believe someone was wrongly accused and defended them. Hes not the one that killed the cop, so his opinion on someone being innocent means he shouldnt be allowed at the white house?

The only reason I see Cash as different as Common is because in my experience Cash never defended cop killers. He was a druggie and theoretically sung about killing people yes but never defended real cop killers. I can't comment about Easy E because I didn't know he was at the White House.

Just in case it's brought up I'm an independent. My opinions may look Republican so I had to clear that up.

Maybe you should educate yourself before you make any comments.

How am I not educated? I could care less about Easy E being at the White House. This post was about Obama/Common/Jon Stewart/Bill O'Reilly. Did you see where I said George H.W. Bush never invited anyone controversial to the WH? No you didn't. Did you see me defend Bush? No you didnt.

So you care about Common being at the White House, but yet it's okay with you with Easy E being there? That doesn't make any sense, but go on. This should be interesting.

No, actually I think it was wrong to have Easy E at the White House. I simply said I didn't care about it because that is not what this post was about.

You should care about it because it relates quite well with the post in hand.

Cool. So Bush 41 made a bad decision as did whoever invited Common for Obama. His body of work may not classify him as a gangster rapper but defending 2 real cop killers is something. I don't think it's a huge deal but I don't have a problem with pointing it out.

I fail to see how this can be an issue. Ray Lewis was an accomplice to murder and visited the white house.

Nah, I don't think it's the end of the thread. He was there with a football team who had just won the Super Bowl. Maybe they should have quit that tradition or told him not to show up but it's not the end of the thread. Like I said it's not a huge deal but it was a bad decision.
