Maybe because your dad hates you? Just throwing out possibilities.

when your father sales cars for 40 + years , you learn about the cars business. any vehicle i purchased from him i had to pay a $100 over dealers cost, whether it was a new or used vehicle. maybe you guys have parents that would screw you over for a buck. i dont.

So your dad worked for a stealership that didn't mark their used cars up as much as the ones in Columbus, big deal. $100 over dealer cost. So if they bought the car at auction for $8,000 and had it on the lot for $12,000, you wouldn't have gotten it for $3,900 off?

Kidding aside, I have relatives who work at dealerships as well. I have saved over $4000 on the price they either had on the window or the book value a few times. I've also known a salesman/dealership to take some hits just to move cars during a slow period (or during a contest, for that matter).
It seems like you were implying that because you never received that kind of a deal from your father that no one anywhere could've possibly received that kind of a deal. I know you want something to be wrong with the Gibson deal, but your personal experience as a singular example doesn't prove that it is.

So you are saying you received that special deal because of your relationship with the dealership right? Not just anyone walked in and got that price?

For me personally, yes, I was related to someone. The part about taking "some hits" to move cars has nothing to do with me personally, I just happen to know about them.
Either way, what you're getting at is that my discount doesn't prove Gibson's was on the up-and-up and that wasn't the intent. The point was that Knight's single personal experience is in no way a factual support of the case he wants to make against the Gibson deal.

Just as yours does not disprove anything.
Anyway, here is a funny take from Mark Titus...

I thought I covered that. Now that we agree our own individual experiences aren't the measuring stick, let's see who knows the answers to questions that actually would lead to an informed opinion? What was the dealer's price? Have any other customer's paid a similar amount above dealer's price?

Actually my point in asking about you getting special pricing was that you were almost proving that Thad could be guilty. If the only to get those prices is based on who you are or who you know, then that is a violation.
So while proving that individual experiences may not be the measuring stick, you threw more fuel on the Gibson fire, did you not?

Actually, my main argument was that Knight's dad either hated him or loved his money too much to give him a great deal, but whatever you want to think.

Not sure if this was posted already or not, but here is Mark Titus' take on the car situation. Some of the comments are loltastic and might have been posted by an OC member or two.

not hardly, do you think the blue book and black book value are not available to the public?

STFU already. We get it, you hate Ohio State and everything that comes with it. We don't give a fuck about your explanations of the deals of the auto world.

So which is it? Do you get $100 over KBB or $100 over dealer cost?
