OSU didn't look great all year really, winning very close games...then won a defensive battle against Michigan in their last game, 14-9. They then went on to beat Miami in the Title game, despite everyone saying they don't have a chance.

Texas this year, hasn't looked too great, has squeeked out some games, and won a defensive battle in their last game 12-10.

So before you say "Texas doesn't deserve to be in the Title game, they're gonna get rocked" don't forget 2002

Did Texas beat anyone in the top 15?

No doubt Texas can win...hell they never lose......but I live in Ohio and Texas for now sucks.

what you say is true, but I think the voters have to sit down and think about this. There are 3 other teams with no losses, they have to at least get some consideration. Especially when you consider that Texas didn't even try to play a tough OOC game

I'm not saying Texas will win or anything like that, I'm just saying they definitely deserve to be in the title game.

Texas has no defense. OSU did.

But I do think Texas deserves to play for the title.

I think Texas deserves to play for the title. I think on any day any team can win but, OSU had a great defense. Texas has a really good offense but not much of a defense. I do see what your saying and alot of the title games have been upsets but I think this is gonna be as bad as when Nebraska got beat down.

TCU has a great argument, that's not in question here.

But Texas had a great season last year with great momentum coming into this year, they have a heisman finalist, an undefeated record, and they play in an above average conference. No way do you leave them out.

I agree, but I also disagree. Sure Texas will stroll into the BCS title game, But to just flippantly declare them in without taking into consideration their body of work + their last performance and not weighing other options would be a crime

Too funny, too delusional, too insane...

TCU (non BCS institution) will not go to the title game ahead of Texas (a BCS institution)

ESPN did a nice comparison on the three tonight. I will provide what they presented, but I recalculated the opponents' win percentage because I thought TCU's was significantly lower than what ESPN presented and it was:

Cincinnati - 0 losses, 3-0 vs. top 25 teams, opponents' win percentage 0.490, points per game 39.8
TCU - 0 losses, 2-0 vs. top 25 teams, opponents' win percentage 0.486, points per game 40.7
Texas - 0 losses, 2-0 vs. top 25 teams, opponents' win percentage 0.529, points per game 40.7

These three teams are putting up similar PPG and are essentially indifferentiable when it comes to overall record and record against top 25 teams. However, when comparing the opponents' win percentages, it is apparent that Texas has played a tougher schedule than Cinci and TCU. For this reason, and the fact that the BCS does not look at margin of victory in consideration, the best case can be made for Texas.

I think Mark May said that Texas deserved to go over TCU and Cincy because Texas played an extra game?

Now, I'm not saying whether or not Texas deserves to go, but that reasoning is asinine.

One difference that we won't know until a few years from now.....7 years after 2002 it is now pretty obvious that OSU's season was a lot more impressive than the idiot talking heads (Trev Albert, Mark May, Tim Brando, etc.) made it out to be back in '02. There were obviously some close games (Purdue, Michigan, etc.), but OSU had two very good and impressive OOC wins against TT and Washington St. (the latter being Pac 10 champs for God's sake), and even more importantly the Big 10 was actually pretty good that year, Stewart Mandel had an excellent article earlier this year that spelled this out in much more detail than I am.

FACT: Alabama put up 32 points on the top defense in the nation.

FACT: Texas has far from the top defense in the nation.

FACT: Alabama has the 2nd best defense in the nation.

FACT: Colt McCoy got shut down by Nebraska's very solid, but not top 15 defense.

Texas has no defense? You do realize they have a top 10 defense this year, don't you? I guess not.

Texas beats Bama in title game.

Texas deserves to play in the title game, but will get beat similar to how OSU got beat by Florida in 06.

Good point. Though they obviously struggled with some teams they should have beaten handily (i.e. Cincy), they did play one of the tougher schedules in recent college football memory.

I don't think anyone seriously believes that TCU will be going to to the NC game over Texas. But TCU is definitely as deserving as Texas for consideration.

Texas does have a solid defense this year...granted they also didn't play any good offenses this year, or at least none that are the caliber of Bama, who just hung 30+ points on a Florida defense that is better than Texas' defense. Bama will wipe the floor with them.

The 2002 Buckeyes are nothing like any of this year's teams. That team played a rugged non-conference schedule, went unbeaten through the best conference in football that season, and had a better defense than any teams this season have.
