Karstens pitched a hell of a game but Resop comes in a blows it in the 8th and the Pirates lose 2-0. Hopefully the Bucs can get over .500 with the New York Mess, er Mets in town for the weekend.

Yeah, heard they lost. Or, more accurately, found out online they did after getting home from a friend's. At least this time, they waited until they reached .500 before losing. For the last couple weeks, I was thinking there was a ceiling at that mark, because every time they got close to it, they fell back a few games.

They finished splitting the four with the Mets, so they're like 32-33 or something like that. Good win tonight. Great start by Maholm, Veras was shaky, but Tim Wood and Jesus Hanrahan finished things off nicely. Walker had a decent night and Brandon Wood hit a solo shot. He's only batting like .225-.230 right now, but considering his career to date, that's pretty damn good. And he's improved since joining the team.

Good to see Maholm get a win for crying out loud. The Pirates teasing us with .500 again...that usually means a 2 or 3 game losing streak.

They just said that the last time the Pirates were .500 this late in the season was 1999.

Yeah. They had a great shot at winning the division in 99, as I recall. Only one team finished above .500 and it looked like near .500 would win it. But they collapsed in September that year.
Lack of offense is worrying me now. It says something that they're 3-2 in their last five games despite not scoring more than three runs in any of them.

Offense woke up tonight as they beat Houston 7-3 to improve to 34-33. Yes, that is a winning record. FUCK THE WORLD!!!!!!

Unless Yahoo is incorrect with their box score, apparently the Pirates decided to leave McDonald in for the sixth inning despite him having 100 pitches through five in a game the team currently leads 5-3.
This could be interesting. Especially since the lead-off batter just doubled.

McDonald gets two outs leaving the guy at second. For Bourn, it looks like Tony Watson will be coming in to hopefully finish the inning. Which he does. Good.

Cubs are up 12-5 on Milwaukee, which is positive! If the Cards can find their way to lose to Washington tonight, that would be nice.

I got a little nervous on that last out but the Pirates finished the job. Awesome. Definitely better at this point than I was expecting.

Lets go Bucs!!!!!!! Go get Cleveland ... I think we finnally may have turned the corner .. Manager is the real deal ..The pitchers starters and the closer atleast are doing very well ... the middle relief needs work and when the hitting begins we are a contender..I long for these days been way too long !!
