does this make your "fact" a complete lie?
Cathy LaMaster, 44, of Gahanna, voted twice after requesting and submitting two absentee voter ballots using her own name and her daughter’s name. LaMaster’s daughter had already voted by absentee in Guernsey County.

Officials say the duplication was discovered during a regular review of registrations.

LeMaster pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of voter registration fraud. The judge ordered her to pay a $1,000 fine and gave her a suspended jail sentence

it is free to those who cannot afford it....for the rest of us, it's $8.50.

The integrity of the voting process is paramount. Without it there's no reason to vote at all. Taking steps to maintain the confidence of all citizens is necessary at this time due to past, proven fraudulent activities.

Completely for this. I always show my ID when voting and I wasn't even aware you didn't have to. There is NO way this is racist or discriminatory....every single person has the opportunity to obtain one.

With the electronic and technological advances we've made in just the past 10 years, I'd rather see a chip implanted in my hand. Or even near my forehead. But that's just me.

Here in the Land of Lincoln I show my photo ID every time I vote. I also take advantage of early voting here and am a strong advocate of this. Why anyone would be against either is totally beyond me.

This won't be politically correct, but here goes. The people most likely to NOT get this ID and then vote would typically vote for Democrats. They're poor, minority and generally unmotivated to contribute to society in any meaningful way. They are more likely to be on some kind of government entitlement or feel they deserve more entitlements.

All of that feeds the Democrat machine politics...and if it is diminished, it hurts the chances of Democrat candidates, more in bigger elections like statewide offices than in local (city, county) where Democrats tend to have a wide enough numbers advantage that it won't affect outcomes.

I just asked 8 people here at the office what they thought. They all think this is a great idea. 4 of them were black.... damn racist rule....

I am gonna be 100 percent honest.....i remember when this first started up. I was at first amazed that it wasnt already a law. I always had my ID out but they never checked because the poll ladies were neighbors and both knew me, and would always comment if I beat my parents up there for that one election.

I have always been surprised it wasnt a law. The fight against is the cost of an ID. Well, how much does it boil down to per year to own just even a basic state ID? Seriously. Everyone should be able to afford one, and if you are homeless and cannot, well, that is tough

If you can't find a way to come up with $8.50 you probably should not be voting anyway. This is the USA not Zimbabwe.

Its their right regardless.

The law helps to prevent fraud while offering those who can't afford the ID one a freebie, its the best we can do.

Seriously, though, what's wrong with the ID request? I'm as liberal as they come and I don't have an issue with it.

Growing up in a small town in Ohio as I did, everybody knew you. Now I live in a much larger city and I don't know some of my neighbors. Why shouldn't I be required to present ID? I just think this is a silly thing for anyone to get their panties in a bunch about.

Democrats are using the race card because they don't want to just come out and say that they are afraid their slam dunk supporters (minorities) won't come out and vote. I honestly think they are just being the "party of no" as well.

There are other stories, but the links are old due to the presidential election being 3 years ago many of them don't work.

Not quite convinced yet pal, the article you cited concerned voter registration fraud. as you apparently are uninformed, HB 159 doesn’t prevent the kind of things like that. Second, Ohio’s existing law already prevents multiple votes. Oh, and HB 159 doesn’t change the law for identification requirements for absentee ballots!

Again, I have no problem with requiring some form of ID to vote, it should not be mandated to be a state ID. Also, I see no where in the Constitution where a state ID is a prerequisite to vote;) surprised the Tea party is not all over this (rolling eyes). To those who want to argue that is is not discriminatory or if you can't afford a ID you shouldn't vote, have fun in court with that one. Even FFT wouldn't take that one.
