I guess cable companies in this part of the state aren't too bright. When I moved into this house, some guys that were helping me hooked my TV up to what they thought was the antenna wire....it was cable. Never got a bill. Had it for about 10 years before they did a sweep of the area and disconnected it. (They never said a word to me about ti though)

Once a few years ago when gas prices seemed to rise about 30 cents a day, I stopped early in the morning right after they had set the prices for the day. It was supposed to like $3.29.9, but instead it was $.32.9.

Whenever a person moves into a place BEFORE you call and have cable hooked up is to see if it still is connected or not.

Used to work for a cable company..and this is what happens. A technician gets his orders to disconnect. He physically has to go and do that. If the weather is bad, or if he is getting behind in his work he can easily just say he disconnected it and turn in the work order. The dispatcher closes the order and no more bills are sent. There was no way to really checking if the cable was shut off or not unless ya have someone go out and check. Also have to put it that many times the guy is too lazy to do it and just says he did. (I was not a technition so I never did any of that).

I have known soooo many places like that. both of my apartments. My sister had two places she got it for free Another sister had a house that she got the full cable for only the basic rate. She had the full....they decided to downgrade for teh summer. Technitian musta did a drive by work order and turned it in..so they got billed for basica cable of like 13 channels for 10 bucks or so. Many, many people get it that way.

House I just bought the owners told us they had it free too until the sweep in december.

So...note to all ya all out there..........hhook up your tv, to ALL the outlets, and check it out. Go great lengths to check it out too. One place had dish for the previous owners, and before that they had cable. When they left of course they take their receivers and go. Left the dish on roof. Next person moved in...of course the dish will not work because they can turn it off in their system, and ya have no receivers. SO beffore calling in this guy found the cable line an dhooked that up. Free cable.

My wife's grandfather passed away about four years ago in the dead of winter, and during a nasty snow storm. His cable is still hooked up, even though the father-in-law has never gotten a bill for it in the last four years.

I've got tons of good "deal" stories, but I'll share two.

First night of college back in 88 at YSU...me and my roomate go to Giant Eagle to pick up some grub. We saw a shrimp ring for like 30 bucks, but we switched price tags on it and made it .99 cents (this was when food still had the little stickers), we take it up to the register and the clerk runs it through and even comments that "what a great deal, I'm going to have to pick me up one after work". We went back to our dorm and had shrimp all night.

A few months later me and same roomate were at the Subway on Liberty that we always went to. This was back when they stamped the cards. My roomate distracted the guy while I reached over and took the little Subway Stamper and a giant stack of cards. Needless to say that I didn't pay for anymore Subway for about 10 years when they went to the stamps. I handed those cards out to my friends like candy.

My favorite deal was when i went to the preakness. Its BYOB in the infield so we had like 6 or 7 cases. The racetrack is literally in the ghetto of baltimore. All of the 50$ parking was taken so i ask some guy sitting on his porch if i can park in his yard. He quickly agrees and I give him 5 bucks and pray my car will still be there when i get back. As we get out of the car a homeless man pushing a shopping cart tells me he will push our beer in his cart for us to the front gate (about a mile walk) for 10 bucks when we finally get to the gate i ask him if he has change for a 20. he says yes and gave me 2 tens and a five as change. I felt bad so i tipped him 20$. When we got back to the car the guy had a full parking lot in his backyard and was actually sitting in a lawn chair guarding our cars. He told me he made more money parking the 20 some cars on his lawn for 20 bucks a piece after me then he made in 6 months usually.

A guy in pittsburgh, calls himself JuneBug, lives in a nasty apt building. ON steelers sundays he puts cones out on both sides of the road in front of his building. And charges to park, on the street.

We stumbled upon it when our normal spot was charging 60 bucks for a playoff game. We told them to fuck off. Saw cones on side of road and went around the block. This 'junebug' walks out and has a sign for parking. We were like..you cannot charge to park on a public street. He said he will watch the cars, but if dont pay he cannot gaurentee they will have all their wheels when ya get back. So we pay him was like 15 bucks plus a beer. We counted like 40 cars and now he charges 20 bucks. We pay it because, well he does watch the cars and it is literally 50 yards from the west end bridge where we need to get out. He does get harassed by security, twice I have seen them come up and bust him and tell him he cannot do it.

I told him to change his sign to say "WIll watch vehicles for 20 bucks". That should be ok! He said he would make more on gameday then he would in a month doin whatever else.

oh..and he also said that "obama will get me outta these apts"....(that was after he was elected and prior to the oath of office a few years ago!)

I transfered 3 perscriptions to Giant Eagle and got $3.00 off a gallon of gas.
It was 2.59 at the time so I got 30 gallons for free then 41 cents off a gallon the next time I filled up

So because someone forgot to mark a receipt that gives you the right to steal? More of what's wrong with society. "I only stole cause they made it too easy. It's not because i have no morals or integrity."

I partially agree. I don't have a problem that he did it. But I would have never done that.

Those arn't deals that are being described. Those are mistakes accompanied by theft.

A deal is paying less for something that you thought it was worth and the seller was willing to transact it at that price.

The best deal I have ever got that was not a mistake or a screw-up by the cashier/clerk was the Saturday after Thanksgiving last year when Amazon sold a $400 MSRP set of headphones for $89. I bought four, sold three for ~$525 and kept one pair for myself. End result: $160 in my pocket and a pair of incredible headphones in my ears.

Too bad they didn't teach you how to not be a douchebag huh? What the fuck makes you think I moved to Massillon for any 'economic advantages'? Although, your attemp at humor kinda backfired, considering its a helluva advantage over Logan, Ohio.

It seems like a lot of these "deals" are actually theft.
