To date, Speaker Boehner and his majority have proposed little more than social agenda legislation and nothing to help with job creation. As a matter of fact, Boehner even went so far as to say that if jobs were lost, "so be it".

Since the most important time of a new administration or new party's takeover is usually deemed to be the first 100 days, I'd have to say that John Boehner and his party have failed miserably so far in delivering any kind of legislation which helps to create jobs. I think they talked a good game, but delivering has proven to be something else. Looks like politics as usual from this guy and his cohorts.

No argument from me. They should have been at least attempting to do way more on cutting spending -- even if it gets vetoed.

Not sure what they can about jobs and the economy, except cut spending and get out of the way.

It's the same political bs. Say what you need to in order to get the office but then head your own personal/political agenda and then abandon it. It happens on both sides.

While I'm definitely disappointed that the House Repubs/Tea Party-ites aren't doing ENOUGH to attempt to decrease massive gubmint spending, it's tough to do when Dingy Harry stands in the way and BHO threatens to use his veto pen. Frustrating to say the least. But quite frankly I'm not surprised. The ONLY realistic thing I had hoped would come out of a Repub-controlled House is to put the gubmint in neutral. The past two years have been a spending spree nightmare. At least now it's just a bad dream.

Regarding jobs growth....I and many other on OC have said time after time that the Feds have very little to do with jobs growth with the exception of creating government positions that suck real wealth from the private sector for sustainment...the part of the economy that actually CREATES wealth and jobs (both public and private).

The best thing the Feds including the Repub House can do to "help" create jobs growth is GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY.

I have been on the phone with my Congressmen and he knows I'm not happy with Congress .. however he doing a much better job then the last public servant.

Id rather job creation not occur from legislation. In fact, it's my belief it has a better chance of occurring when there's less legislative intervention.

But when you run on "the other guys are the reason there aren't jobs and we'll get the jobs back" it tends to look bad when you don't do anything to help get jobs back.

As a conservative, I am very disappointed by the lack of legislation coming from the House to reduce the deficit. As a percentage of GDP, we have had the two highest deficits since right after WWII under the last Congress and the people spoke clearly that this must stop. They aren't getting the job done. We need to cut government by nearly two-thirds just to return to 2008 spending. If that means gridlocking the budget and shutting down the government for a while, then so be it. That is why they were elected.

Gridlocking the budget won't even do anything. We cannot fix this without the elephants in the room being addressed. Defense spending and all the related things that aren't listed as such, and things like SS, Medicare, Medicaid.

I'm not going to put words in the OP's mouth, but I think what he is saying (or at least what I personally think) is that they haven't even proposed legislation. It's one thing to propose a bill and have it voted down in the Senate or vetoed by POTUS and not proposing a bill at all. Which is why I said it's the same bs. Say what you need in order to get into the office but abandon those statements once your butt hits the chair.

They need to pass a budget and let the dems shoot it down. Then the ball is back in their court. If the House pubs continue this shit, there will be another "turn around" in 2012.

This will not be good for any of us.

I understand that the Republicans only control one chamber of Congress, but to do NOTHING, to not even try, is inexcusable. That's like not trying to drive to the basket and saying the other team is too tall. Wouldn't it make some sort of sense to force the Senate and President's hands by passing legislation to help? Instead, all we get are social issues. Hell, they aren't any different than the "Just say no" bunch they have been for the last two years.

If anyone has a right to be truly pissed off about this it would be the Tea Party supporters. They linked up with the Republicans to get elected and now they are left holding this bag of shit which will break open in November 2012. I guess the trick is not to get any of it on their hands.

I've been out of school for quite sometime, but would one of you please refresh my memory on something. I remember the part that anyone can propose a bill, but the part I'm not sure on and it sounds like you guys are implying is that only members of the Senate can introduce legislation? Or is it any member of Congress? I'm getting old, would one of you help me out here? In the mean time, I'll continue searching for the answer as well! Thanks!

I don't think the government can do much to create jobs, and if the Republicans want to run on the campaign of "we'll create jobs" and the masses believe the shit they are selling, my hats off to them. The democrats do the same thing, including Barack if anyone remembers the "I'm not going to have to pay for my gas, food, car" black lady who was so hoodwinked by BS promises that she probably got her whole community to vote for Barack.

The house DID pass a budget that got turned down by the Senate.
