not to mention this battlefield is much different then what we all see in movies. They are plain dressed. Old, young. Boobytrap injured/dead kids, women, and retarded people with vests and IED's. Kids looking no older than 12-13 firing weapons at the enemy. Very hard to distinguish the enemy in today's wars.

These aren't kids drafted. They are trained US Army with the best technology. These guys purposely made innocent civilians look like the enemy. Killed them. Then posed in pictures like heroes. I'm willing to bet tiger with less cool gear never did such a thing.

That's not what anyone is saying. But these specific soldiers knew that these people were citizens and not disguised bombers or anything and then killed them. That's wrong and there's no question about it.

What Tiger2003 and other combat harden vets have seen, done and experienced you couldn’t even image in your worst dream….
Soldiers don’t get free pass in a combat situation because they put their life up as collateral.
As stated in other post …. In a combat arena the norm changes … “what is once unthinkable is real”

What those two soldiers testified doing is wrong, beyond wrong … and should be punished. I’m surprised some didn’t “friend fire” or “fraging” but that another issue.

I don't think anyone is equating these murders with the soldiers that serve and defend us. So, not sure why you keep pressing this. This is not John Rambo, the country loves vets, almost too much sometimes and not enough in others.

But, the bigger problem is the fact that Afghans and Pakistanis may not start to attribute U.S. actions with these murders, which is wrong, but a huge part of their society. This will not help the COIN strategy.

If Bush was responsible for torturing prisoners to gain knowledge of how to protect American soldiers, then isn't Obama equally responsible of this situation? Can't have it both ways.

Thank you. It is very hard. I have talked at many events around the US and I plan on keep doing what I do. Not everyone is going to agree with me but some will.

Ok, if you agree these soldiers should be punished than why the fuck do you keep arguing with other posters? They are not condemning all soldiers, just these particular soldiers as you did in this post I have quoted. Quit arguing for argument sake. You of all should know that the ROE do not allow or condone this type of action. So let me ask you flat out, do you think these particular soldiers should be punished for their actions? They engaged in actions not permissable under the UCMJ. They should be punished accordingly.

You strike me as an intelligent poster, I am not sure why you continue to defend your own actions when they were never in question. The actions of these criminals are though.

You and Belly were both advocating that these guys somehow shouldn't be punished because they're soldiers in a war zone and their jobs suck.

I wasn't talking about dudes being able to randomly do whatever they want or anything I was talking about accountability. If someone murders a civilian, and it is murder that is in question not crossfire or an accidental killing or where they thought they were possible enemies. They knew they were civilians that posed no threat and killed them anyway (or at least that's what the reports are). If that is true then they are murderers and a disgrace not to mention giving fuel to those who would wish to harm us.
