If OSU has to forfeit all their 2010 wins (like Sports Illustrated is reporting is likely: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/andy_staples/03/17/ohio-state-tressel-suspension/index.html#?eref=sihp ) ...

*Does the streak against Michigan continue, or does this technicality end that in the minds of fans?
*Is the SEC monkey still on our back?
*Do OSU fans still consider themselves champs of the Big 10 for 6 consecutive seasons?

they won't vacate the Sugar Bowl because the NCAA had declared the players eligible

*yes, it continues
*no, because we beat Arkansas

Maybe it's just me, but is anyone else not real concerned with having to vacate wins? The whole vacating wins thing is just symbolic IMO. Sure it takes wins away from the record books, but it doesn't change what people saw happen on the field.

My biggest concern as far as sanctions go would be on the recruiting front. Especially with the depth of talent in Ohio this year. This normally would be a year where Ohio State would absolutely rake in a Top 5 class with all the in state talent. However, if we got put on limited scholarships, that really opens the door for Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and Penn State to steal a lot of that talent from right here.

I agree with you. Everyone has probably discussed this question, but I'd prefer for OSU to win a National Championship and have it vacated 10 years later than being an average team.

The Fab 5 "never existed" at Michigan, however they still had a highly debated documentary done on their time at Michigan.

Exactly. Auburn will probably have to vacate their national title eventually, but everyone is still going to remember the great run they had and capped it off by beating Oregon. I remember hearing at the time how Auburn fans didn't care about the Newton stuff, they just wanted to win the national title, even if it got taken away later on. What a NCAA board rules doesn't come close to what people saw on the field.

This has always been my contention. I wonder if more people are going to agree if it ends up happening now (even though I still don't expect it to happen that way).

I saw the Buckeyes put a major hurting on the Maize and Blow. Someone deeming that something else happened changes nothing. In order, the answers to the questions posed are yes, no, and yes.

NO ONE gives a shit about "forfeited" games. The players, coaches and fans of all teams, in all games know who won those games, regardless of what is in the record book.

Not even Michigan would want a win against Ohio State if it was given to them by the NCAA.

Ohio State's record is 0-12 in 2010, then beats Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl???????????? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLO Farcical.

They won't be forced to forfeit. The wins would be vacated (if the NCAA goes that route).

They won't have to vacate because the NCAA knows it will look even worse. It's not like any new information of what the kids did and when they did it has changed.

Since the players were suspended, the NCAA has learned that Tressel knew about it in April. That is a significant difference.

I don't really understand the thinking of people who think vacating wins means nothing. It leaves a gigantic black eye on the program.

Small potatoes...I mean, they'll say the wins were vacated as they show you the highlights of OSU pounding the shit out of everyone on the schedule then show the beatdown of Arkansas...it's a damn footnote...nothing more.

One loss and a gang of wins is all anyone will remember. Sorry you don't care for my illustration to highlight the point which is it's a damn footnote...won't happen anyway.

Still don't think this is going to happen, but seems a lot of OSU fans won't really care if it does. If OSU does have to vacate its 2010 wins and your opinion is that OSU's streak of conference titles is in tact, I'm interested in your opinion on the following questions:

Do you still consider Reggie Bush a Heisman winner?
Do you still consider USC the national champion in 2004?
Do you consider John Calipari a two-time Final Four coach?
Does Terrelle Pryor still hold the same spot on the list of best OSU QBs (particularly if you use his career stats to place him near the top of that list)?

And just for the record, as I've mentioned before, I don't think this vacating business changes anything at all - for any school, including Ohio State.

You forgot the Fab5 run but point noted, and the answer for me at least is pretty much yes. The bottom line is that were the rules followed in all cases, nothing would have been different player wise, thus the results were the same. Now the question might be what would cause you or anyone to change their mind...to me I think the only issue that would might be steroid use...that alters things in my mind. I can't really think of much else that would.

I guess the thing is all in hindsight.

If Reggie Bush was caught during the season, would he have played?
If Reggie didn't play, would USC have gone undefeated?
If the 5 OSU players had been caught in April and suspended for 5 games or the season or w/e, would OSU still wind up with a 13-1 record?

If Cam Newton's stuff came out earlier, would he have played, won the Heisman, and the National Title?.....

It's just the doubt in people's minds about individuals not playing and the affects it could have had on the field. The bottom line is we don't know what would have happened to OSU if these guys didn't play this past season. Do they lose to Miami, Iowa? We don't know.
