Hopefully that's the message being sent by the school and coaching staff by making him sit.

First off, if you knew who I was, you would know how important I think Academics are, I talk to the kids all the time about getting their act together academically. However, no Ursuline Irish varsity basketball players were academically ineligible, including Jalen.

Only went off of what was posted earlier by ivhoops.I am happy to hear that is the case.Whatever lesson he is learning I am sure he will learn it well.I did see him supporting team from bench, which is important.
Thank You for the correction of facts.

It was sarcasm, man. The more coaches & kids see the world beyond high school athletics, the better off they'd be.

Sarcasm from you fine and accepted but how many believe in the athletics first theory today.Unfortunatly some of these kids are led by adults who believe in the athletics first theory. As mentioned above the player in question turned out not to be acedemic issues. So we can move with the same theories

I couldn't agree more about "grades first", which is why I feel the need to clarify something, the issue is not grades (plural)..it is one grade-Religion, and he was 1 point away from a grade that would have kept him eligible.

I don't understand how that orrville team has a losing record, they have some serious height and play physical and hard. Congrats on the season. Let's go Irish!

FINAL:
Ursuline: 66
Orrville: 58

Punisha20, We don't have a serious outside scoring threat guard. It took us the entire season to find the right mix of guys starting and coming off the bench...then we brought up some sophomores off of the JV late in the year and that took some more time to fine tune. Our last regular season game of the year they tried one last lineup, and that group won 5 straight before tonight. It's a shame it took so long, but we really miss the shooting of Jake Bolyard of last years team....we just didn't have that consistent outside shot all season and teams just packed it in on our bigs. Congrats and good luck the rest of the way.

Congratulations to Orrville on a very nice tournament run. You just ran into a better team tonight, but you still battled, never gave up, made it a close game time and time gain, played your hearts out, and should have made your community proud.

Congratulations Orrville on an exceptional tournament run. It's always better when they can't see you coming.

Good luck the rest of the way Irish.

Tonight's highlights: http://www.myvalleysports.com/content/headlines/story/Ursuline-Boys-Top-Orrville-in-Semis/mlSAUG78B0W5TSe1N36s-Q.cspx

^^^ Nice highlights of the two big dunks by Jenkins and #33 from orrville.

It never hit me what the OCC was until just now. The conference with Senior high, Ashland, Lex, Wooster, etc. No wonder, your record wasn't that great, most of those teams are DI/DII. There schedule definitely got them ready for tourney time.
