I'm disappointed as well, but I can see where he's coming from. It was truly a double edge sword. He felt the need to protect himself and the players, but knew that there was going to be a major backlash to follow. He looked to be on the verge of tears through the whole presser. His body of work is unquestionable, his character - in my opinion is unquestionable - as well. I can see where his reputations may very well be tarnished outside of Buckeye Nation, but to me - he's a man who puts others before himself, he looks out for his players, and is sincere when he says that he just basically did not know what to do. I don't think any less of him, but I can see everyone outside of OSU salavating at the mouth ready to rip Ohio State for being a university that lies, cheats, and is doing nothing but showing lack of insitutional control.
Regardless, I'm still a Buckeye fan. I support and back Coach Tressel, and we'll still be a great team on the field come this fall. Hopefully the NCAA accepts our self-imposed sanctions, and leave it at that. I'm interested to see how this affects our appeal on the suspension of the five players though. I think that any hope we had of the suspension being reduced, may have just taken a hit.
