Agree with others that nothing really comes close to Seinfeld.

M*A*S*H was a true sitcom for most of it's run. It was only in the later years when Alan Alda was writing and directing a lot of the episodes that it became more serious. It also as set in the Korean War, so you have to be serious some of the time. The show also ran for 11 seasons. I can't imagine any sitcom running for that long without becoming a dramody. There's just not enough sit-com funny that you can do for that long.

4. That 70's Show
5. Man Show OK, it wasn't a "sitcom", but it was very funny and the supporting cast was the best ever for jumping on trampolines.

While MASH was brilliant, I don't consider it a sitcom. Nearly all sitcoms are only 30 minutes long.

I was just kidding about MASH sucking. I do like it, I just think it's a tad overrated.

I don't know if you've only ever seen the final episode, but M*A*S*H was definitely a 30 minute show.

This is true. Early on the comedy was more typical sitcom comedy, very forward (like Clinger dressing like a woman). Later on the humor was still there but it was more subtle and ironic.

I'm definitely old enough not only to have watched MASH but to have appreciated the humor, still didn't care for it. I liked the Honeymooners a lot, though not old enough to have watched only re-runs.

I'm interested. Does anyone else here like Becker? A completely underrated show, in my opinion. Dr. John Becker is the sitcom version of Dr. Gregory House. Obviously, House, M.D., is on a whole different level as a television character, but I've always noticed marked similarities in their sarcastic, anti-social personalities and quirks.

And, as another poster stated, Boy Meets World goes completely unappreciated by most. But perhaps I only think that because I grew up watching it.

News Radio is another great show. The late, great Phil Hartman was comedic gold.

I think I have pretty much watched every show on that list...which is sad. Seinfeld is my all time favorite though.

Never liked the Patty Duke Show. It was lame even in the 60's! lol

Since I listed those as my all-time favorites I'm with you on the sad thing. For some reason I never got into Seinfeld. Quite frankly I never understood what was so funny about it but a lot of people obviously disagree with me.

How about Dobie Gillis? Dennis the Menace? My Favorite Martian? The Flying Nun? Love Boat? Three's Company?

Patty Duke is Rudy's mom.

Seinfeld is my #1. Another show I really ejoyed was Frasier. That show had such good dialogue and the actors played off one another really well.
