That's rough. I'll keep you in my prayers. It sucks that dogs have such a short life span. It's just not fair.

Yeah but it also wouldn't be fair if they lived as long or longer than their humans. I've seen so many elderly people pass away and there was no one to care for their dog so it had to go to a shelter. So sad.

My sister was always really attached to the barn cats, so anytime one died during the winter, it sat in our deep freezer in the garage until spring and she could give it a proper burial.

Apple, that ol girl is a lot better off. (sorry to use an old cliche) It will be tough sitting around the pool drinking beer without that ol stinky drooling gal around. She was definitely part of the atmosphere around there.

I think you are right that she waited for the weather. I think she was making sure you could dig her a hole without chipping through the ice :)

The Advocate family is truly sorry for the loss.

Apple, my condolences.

My family has an 11 year old boxer (my dad named her punchy lol) and she's got cancer and is probably going to die within the year. I'm absolutely dreading it because she is extremely smart and when I went all through my absurd high school drama/"love" BS she would always somehow know and come up to me and give me company when I needed it.

When I graduate law school and finally settle down, my first dog is definitely going to be a boxer. Absolutely great breed of dogs.

Thanks DA. You knew Mochi so you know what a great dog she was. Yes, She stunk and slobbered but as you know and saw, she was a very important part of our family. I wish you and Mrs. Advocate could have been there last week. We buried her out back by the wooden fence and the plan is to plant a tree there this spring I guess.

This whole conversation is making me thirsty! :p

Thanks to everyone who have sent their well-wishes. I only hope each of you can experience what a wonderful thing a pet can do for your life! :)

On Saturday morning I rush one of our Golden’s to the vets, 6 years old male Golden ..... Baxter
Great dog and my best pal.. He would always stay by my sided when I was at home or working in the yard. He slept on the floor on my side of the bed and would wake me after the alarm would go off with his paw on the side of the bed.
After 40 minute the Vet comes and tells me Baxter has gastric dilatation/volvulus or GDV and it to later…..nothing can be done at this time it is to bad and other complication have set in.

I was alone and had to give the permission for the shot…
Called the wife to tell her what had to happen and there was no time for her to get to the vets … sad day

This will be our four Golden we has seen pass a way in our family 40 year of owning Goldens ..never get easy

Love you Baxter the girls will miss you and grandkids are asking about you… they also missing you.
Murphy our older Golden is lonely already, missing his brother…

Sorry about both your losses. I know I'm going to go through it soon, as I have a 13yr Terrier mix that won't live forever. I don't even want to think about what you guys are going through now since I'll be going through it sooner than later...hopefully later.

So sorry for both you're losses. I had an English Springer Spaniel get hit by a truck just last month. So hard. We miss you Abbie.
