I know...i am on a computer..on the internet...to complain about technology.......

Anyone else getting more and more sick of technology?

I do not have a computer, rock a 4-5 yr old razor cell phone, no video game systems, no ipods and such.....nothing.

When you are out and about all you do is see people paying more attention to their devices than the people they are with. The last two months I have been turning my cell phone off when I am not at work and not turning it on until I go back that next day. Last weekend it was off for over 48 hrs straight and I loved it.

Is all this technology warped and retarding (huh huh..huh huh...i said retard) our society?

My paycheck relies on technology so I can't say I am getting sick of it but I definitely understand what you mean.

Is it getting worse or do people just have more options now?

But I do agree. My devices serve me, not the other way around. When I get home I toss my cell phone on my dresser and I may not check it again until I go to bed. Sometimes I'll have a text and then three or four more that say "are you there?" I am not accessible to other people 100% of the time.

...as does mine. I have been in the business for over 10 years...without people coming in and getting the latest cool stuff I am totally sick of how it is overtaking our society.
Went ice skating and I would say 98% of the people were under 16 and just looking around ya see a table of 6 kids........and all on their phones, ipods...etc. Just as many kids sitting around texting and other stuff than actually skating.

.at valentines dinner.......was at a small place......each table had at least one person paying more attention to their phones/ipods. I got a glare from the wife when I told the kids to put away the electronics.

I guess when I grew up it was the TV as the 'babysitter' and not is is playing games on ipods, psp, etc etc.

Technology isn't the problem.

The problem has been many people's obsession with it, and I do agree. There needs to be a time every day in which you turn off the cell phone, put the computer away, turn off the television, and snap back into "reality" for awhile.

For me, it's either at lunch or at the end of my day. I take at least an hour in each case to get away from all the technologies. I need it.

Were the kids with you? If they were I have no problem with that. My daughter is allowed to text during meals but only a reasonable amount. She's pretty good at telling her friends she will get back to them later. If they weren't with you, that's just funny.

I would not say that I am sick of technology but it sure is nice to go on vacation and turn it completely off for about a week and just enjoy being with family and friends.

I love technology, but I refuse to get a smart phone due to the $30 a month data charges...I'm not into social networking sites....

TV, video games, my home theater, love it all, but I'm away from it all for the few hours after I get home from work and am playing with my daughter until she goes to bed...

When I go on vacation, it doesn't bother to be away from it all, but I miss the innernetz a little bit.

There are no cell phones at the dinner table. If we are grabbing a quick bite while sitting around the TV, that's one thing. But if we are sitting down to a nice meal, don't even think about bringing a phone with you - no texting, no calls, no way!

Yeah....we were all together! But I guess because the place had wi-fi it was imperative for them all to download stuff on their ipods. Some reason all the kids have them, and the wife needs two and I have nada.

Oh well........when they all get frustrated/stressed when they do not work right.....or if a place does not have wi-fi...or if they get too many messages it bothers them i just sit back and am totally relaxed.

I agree..it is more the abuse of the the technology than the technology itself. I guess I just never grew up with the stuff.......no computer.....no net......no videa games.......of course no cell phones as they were not around........

A sit down dinner at home? Doesn't happen as often as it should in most cases. We try to do this as often as possible to catch up with everyone face to face. Very important part of our day I feel.

I agree, I'm discouraged by tech's over use. I have the crappiest cell phone produced this decade and don't really care, it functions.

Technology seems to be used more as toys than productivity tools. I find that people are spending more time using using technology for entertainment purposes than anything else. This website is an example of that.

I still have not replaced my mobile phone. I got rid of it several years ago. There's nothing that's that urgent in life that I need to be contacted on the spot. I hated people calling me and expecting me to be available at their convenience. I fixed that and am now free.

I was using a blackberry and I admit.....I loved all the stuff it could do. But then I was without cell phones for 13 or so weeks and restricted use for another 8 weeks and now that I am home I got sick of the bb and went back to my old razor phone. Works great......has the basics of what I need...and that is all i care to have and feel a tremendous burden taken off me. I used to find myself constantly surfing web, apps, music, email. etc etc etc...and hours would just escape me.

I do feel less stress...and more free without being tied down to the wireless generation.

I shun technology. ;) In all of the years I've owned a cell phone I believe I've sent TWO texts and my phone isn't even as advanced as your Razor. I carry the cell for emergencies and use it maybe once a day. I do use the internet but that's about as "high tech" as I get.

My job requires me to have a smart phone as I NEED to be reachable (within reason). But I still have the ability to not answer personal calls if I don't want. That's one things my wife can't do. She can't stand to let the cell or land line ring without answering, even if it's someone she doesn't want to talk to right then. I always tell her it's a privilege for people to call, not a right. ;)

I agree. My only complaint is that people expect you to be available on their time. Sorry. I'm just not available.

No. Look at some things technology has allowed us to do. I spend a lot more time on my laptop than I do watching tv; surfing the internet I can find anything I want, and tons of stuff I don't even know about. I honestly don't remember the last time I went to a store and purchased a CD, there is no point. I have access to any song I want sitting right here on my couch. If I have some free time from the wife and daughter, I can get on my PS3 and play with my friends just by going into my bedroom. And I can do pretty much anything I want on my Android.

Not me! Like some others that already posted, my pay check is reliant on technology, and personally, I have the iPhone 4, all three Playstation consoles and a PSP, to go along with my desktop and laptop. The laptop, PSP & PS3 all connect to the Internet via my wireless connection! I can't get enough technology!

I think that goes for anything.

It isn't like I need it to live, but if I can have my phones and computers and video games around I'd prefer it that way.
