This is all posturing at this point. I expect Pujols to accept around 6 or 7 years. If it is a 10 yr deal, look for the club to have the option to terminate after 7.

I hope that Pujols stays in St. Louis just because I like when stars stay in one city for their whole careers. If he doesn't though I won't think less of him. I still enjoy watching him play.

Some predictions:
AL East - Red Sox
AL Central - Twins
AL West - Rangers
Wild Card - Tigers

NL East - Phillies
NL Central - Reds (or I'd be banned :))
NL West - Giants
Wild Card - Braves

AL Champs: Red Sox over Twins
NL Champs: Phillies over Giants

World Series: Phillies

Mark Belanger sure was a very good defensive SS......but his power numbers are barely better than Duane Kuiper's.

I have no idea what to expect in the AL West this year. Oakland's pitching staff is like caffeine free Diet Phillies, the Angels staff has a bunch of guys that could win 15+ but they're all inconsistent as hell and their bullpen is questionable at best, the Rangers will probably still mash (outside of Adrian Beltre who will drop to like .260 with 11 home runs now that he got paid) but who knows if CJ Wilson and Tommy Hunter will pitch anywhere near as well as they did last season, and the Mariners will be picked to be the worst team in the division by everyone, which is the only scenario that Eric Wedge ever has success in.

I have no idea who Duane Kuiper is but I will throw Rafael Belliard into consideration. Mindblowingly weak offensive numbers for a position player that played 17 MLB seasons.

Belliard was close, but still twice the man Kuiper was.

I expect the Central to be pretty tight all season long.

Reds - won the division, have everybody back, and everybody is a year older

Brewers - intriguing team. Could easily win the division. Starting pitching and starting lineups are both great. What about the bullpen though?

Cardinals - still will contend, window is closing quickly though. Pujols and Holliday will need to continue to carry the team. Their defense has potential to be pretty bad with the addition of Berkman. Berkman in LF and Holliday in RF? Yikes. Berkman likely won't make up for it at the plate either. He looked washed up last season

Cubs - the Cubs are the Cubs, that's all you can say. They have made improvements but their pitching is lackluster and their offense still doesn't scare me.

Astros - Will probably be a little better, but not much

Pirates - Bad.

They were just talking about them on MLB Network. They were saying Cole Hamels could have the best year of his career. Being the 4th starter in the rotation he will pitch against the 3rd, 4th and 5th starter most of the time.

That pitching staff is going to be incredible this season. I wonder if there will be a Miami Heat vibe that follows them? (People booing/hating them everywhere they go)

I doubt it as bad. But I went to about 4 road games last year. @ Cincy, @ Washington @ Mets @ Yankees and they weren't booing them. Yes they said shit but it's totally different story then the Heat.

Cliff Lee essentially did the same thing as Lebron (less money to team up with other stars in the name of a championship). The only difference is that Lee didn't do "the Decision" and he isn't nearly as flamboyant (dancing during games, drawing attention to himself by throwing chalk up in the air, etc)

smh, Lebron didn't take less money by going to the heat. The cavs S&T'd him, and with no income tax in Florida, I believe LeBron is making the same or slightly more than he would have at Cleveland.

Also comparing the Phillies rotation to the heat's big 3 is a complete joke. You are talking about 1 position out of the 9 that take the field. They only see the field once every 5 days too. As for the heat, all 3 of them barring injuries take up 60% of the starting lineup every game. Also super teams with a high pay roll having been getting booed for the past 10 years now (red sox, and yankees). It is probably going to be no different for the Phillies if there is any resentment. Nice FAIL.

I think its a little different. Lee has already pitched in Philly and that is alot of the reason why he is back. All the big boys were out to get him. Who doesn't want to win a championship. Also LeBron, Wade and Bosh have been talking about teaming up together before the decision was ever made.

Halladay, Oswalt and Hamels were already there. Its not like the teamed up this winter and all decided to go to Philly.
