They certainly know which ones to pick and how to coach them up into Pro Bowl players, Super Champs/MVP's.

I could care less where they're from to be honest.

Maybe Ras-I Dowling in the second round

he's a great talent, just has some injury concerns

0% chance Bradon Harris or Aaron Williams is there at 63.

That's true. I only put them because they're still on the board right now. They would have to trade back up to get them.

I give credit to those of you who were still apparently standing when the Steelers pick came in. That's the bummer of being 31st in the round. I was so obliterated by about 23-25 that I couldn't even read the TV.

What did you think of the pick? Just curious since he slid so far from where he was projected before the college football season.

Overall positive. I think he'll be a good cog in the defense. I think he slipped because he really didn't have that great of a year from a pass-rushing perspective (at least me and my friends noted oftentimes during the football season that he seemed far less of a factor when it came to getting to the QB than we were expecting), but with Pittsburgh it seems that the line is mainly used for run stuffing and taking up space so the LBs can get the sacks. I think he'll do well as far as that goes.

At least I hope so. Smith, Hampton, Hoke, Keisel, Farrior, Harrison...all key guys in the front seven who are over 30. Woodley, Timmons and Hood are really the only younger guys who are what I'd consider important. They need to get some young guys in to start replacing the veterans because you can't realistically expect them to perform at a high level for too much longer.

They need to address cornerback but I think people can get carried away with just looking at the last game. In their case it was the Super Bowl so it was even more magnified. But whenever a team loses in the playoffs, all of the mock drafters will just pick the most glaring need and figure they have to go that route and that will be the missing piece.

For one thing, they still went 12-4 and made the Super Bowl. There's no telling if they made the playoffs again which teams they would face. The Steelers already won two Super Bowls without the cornerback position being extraordinary. A lot of quarterbacks against the pressure will make a few mistakes and the Steelers end up winning. There are a few quarterbacks like a Brady or Rodgers, for example, who have the ability to play a perfect game and not have that one big mistake. Like Flacco usually makes.

Also, if you look at this entire last decade where the Steelers were one of the best teams, the defensive line was a major reason for the consistent success. The run defense is normally ranked in the top three in the league and the defensive linemen like Hampton and Smith have played a big part in tying up blockers to allow the linebackers to thrive. With Keisel, Hampton and Smith all aging, now they are starting to transition to a new era of Ziggy Hood and now Cam Heyward and probably a nose tackle at some point in the next three rounds.

Hey guys, just dumping off these troll posts. These posters seemed to get lost all the time and post on the Cle thread.

What's going to be tough is dealing with Ike Taylor's agent. He knows they have the leverage.

The Steelers really need to re-sign him and they may be banking on Taylor's desire to want to return. But when it comes time to negotiate the agent could set the price too high and probably should if he's being fair to Taylor.

Aaron Williams off the board to the Bills after Dowling gets scooped.

Bengals address their unsure QB situation by drafting Andy Dalton from TCU.

I don't like this.

All of the second round corners will be gone but I want them to keep their picks too.

Tough call.

I know it is a need, but the steelers have won super bowls with a bunch of chumps at corner. Their scheming and dline is usually THAT good.

I agree but they still need a pretty good one in either the second or third round.

Just scanning the prospects, though, nobody at corner really jumps out.

They could go OL in the second round. There's some good players in that group.

I though you guys might move up for Dowling or Williams, but I didnt think you'd have to move to the top of the 2nd round to do it.

Ed Bouchette of the Post Gazette is saying that the Steelers were trying to trade up but no takers

They may still be trying to trade up to get Brandon Harris but the asking price is their third rounder

I say trade up for Harris and just go without a 3rd round pick. I just think that getting a good CB is that important to the defense and consequently the team.
