Gotta ETB this for Justin.

Justin, the Jungle Jims Beerfest is going to be on Friday June 17th from 7pm-10pm. Tickets go on sale March 1st. Not sure what the price is though.

This weekend's beer list:

Old Rasputin
Stillwater Artisanal American Farmhouse Ale
Surly Furious
Bell's Oarsman Ale
Half Acre Daisy Cutter
Allagash White

The Stillwater was crazy ... sage basically overtaking the palate. Missed me some Surly, thankfully my dad was visiting from Minneapolis and brought some down.

Had Sofie this past weekend. It was okay. It won't knock your socks off, though.
La Fin Du Monde is pretty good. I've had that a couple times.

It was the the first time I had it and I agree for the most part. I think it's better than ok, but wish it would have tasted as good as it smelled. Started off nice and sour, but just fell flat quick.

Agreed. I was excited, as I've had good things from Goose Island in the past (Pepe Nero was good, for example), but I found myself going from mildly content at the beginning to disappointed at the end.

Did you notice it almost tasted "skunky" at the end?

I had a Stone Bitter Chocolate Oatmeal Stout, with some homemade oatmeal cookies this weekend. The Stout was gone before the cookies so I grabbed me the BORIS that I have had chillin for a while. Both were awesome with the cookies.

I need to get some brews for camping this weekend. Not sure yet what I'll go with, probably bud light, corona, something simple of the sort to buy in masses.

Haha! To be perfectly honest, it really is pretty tasty. One of my favorite Chocolate Stouts, and probably the best value I've had in that department (Founders is my favorite, but it's so damn expensive).

You should try their Oatmeal Stout. Good quality oatmeal stout.

Just had, still having, a nice Belgium Style Dark Ale called Monks Blood. It's made by 21st Amendment. They make some nice beers and it comes in cans. If you have a chance to try anything from them, go for it. I've never been disappointed from anything I've tried from them.

if you want to continue that trend of never being disappointed in anything of theirs, do NOT try the 21st amendment watermelon wheat.

I'll keep an eye out.

In principle, I try to never drink anything with "watermelon" in the name.

I ran across something just like this at the local Acme the other day (might have even been what you're talking about), and I couldn't believe it. Something with "Watermelon" in the name was shelved right next to Stone beers.

If it was possible to tell beer to "GTFO," I would have.

Actually too late. That was was their first beer I tried. I actually liked it even though it had watermelon. Of course there are not many beers watermelon beers to compare it to. It's defiantly different and not your typical 'fruit' wheat. One of the guys in the beer dept where I get my beer, said it sold slow at first, but people are now asking for it since they are sold out of it.

Drank a bunch of Killians the other night. Really like the $9.99 for a 12 pack price point.

Shared 2 of these today with The Wife. The last 2 in existence of the 20 bottles produced. Very Limited !!!

I didn't realize that I still had any left. It was from a batch I brewed 2 years ago. The smell of Blueberry's was there, but not so much the flavor anymore. The carbonation was still decent, but not as tight bubbled as it was. Ya gotta read the Government Warning on the label.

LOL

I'm slumming it tonight with a Guinness. Couldn't justify a nicer brew or an extra trip to the grocery store.

We still have a couple of those in the fridge. The Wife bought them on St. Patrick's day. I did have one last night.

Might not be having any more beer tonight. Right now I'm having a Moscow Mule, then some wine with dinner. We'll see as I do have a bottle of Duvel Triple Hoped Limited Edition and a DFH My Antonia chilling.
