Looking at it I must say they weren't very gererous filling this bottle; it's filled to maybe 1/3 of the neck. Can't complain though, it's better than nothing.

Great Lakes has announced two new seasonals for 2013, both IPAs (fuck yeah!)
This is great news considering how lacking Great Lakes was in the IPA department, with Lake Erie Monster being the only real IPA they offer. Burning River is a solid Pale Ale but lacks the hop characters of a good IPA. First one launches in February (happy birthday to me!) and the second one in April. Here's the details:
NINJA EDIT! Forgot about Commodore Perry which is a pretty ho-hum IPA.

Alchemy Hour Double IPA:
Style: Double India Pale Ale
First Available: February
Packaging: 4-Pack, Draft
ABV: 9.4% ABW: 7.5% IBU: 80
Flavor: Hop-forward with a balanced blend of Mosaic and Nugget hops.
Name Origin: On the West Coast, surfers have a term for that perfect time of day, when the waves are breaking just right and it feels like you can ride forever. They call it Alchemy Hour. Alchemy Hour Double IPA pays tribute to the North Coast’s unlikely surf bums and the ancient quest for liquid gold, wherever it may live: on the ocean, in a lake, in a bottle.
Rye of the Tiger IPA:
Style: India Pale Ale
First Available: April
Packaging: 6-Pack, 12-Pack, Draft
ABV: 7.5% ABW: 6.0% IBU: 92
Flavor: Strong citrus and pine presence with a clean, dry finish.
Name Origin: Named for its fierce hop profile and sharp rye content, Rye of the Tiger is a thrilling India Pale Ale with bite. If you can handle this hopped-up cat, you’ve earned your stripes.

Red Bull with a Vicodin chaser > christmas beer. I call it The Eminem. It's delicious.
Although, I am putting serious consideration into heading to The Anderson's tomorrow and picking up some Newcastle Winter IPA. I typically am not fond of pale ales -- I actually hate them -- but I am a big Newcastle Brown Ale enthusiast and I have heard that the Winter IPA is actually more dark than the name of the beer would indicate. Has anyone ever had this?

Love Newcastle Brown Ale. Tried their summer ale this past summer thought it was terrible, like they watered down their brown. Haven't tried their winter though.reclegend22;1310923 wrote:Red Bull with a Vicodin chaser > christmas beer. I call it The Eminem. It's delicious.

Then that must taste like actual water because Newcastle tastes like a watered down brown ale.vdubb96;1310985 wrote:Love Newcastle Brown Ale. Tried their summer ale this past summer thought it was terrible, like they watered down their brown.

It is surprising I didn't piss the bed last night, as my dreams consisted of taking the longest pisses ever. Thanks, good beer.

Thanks for the info. I may just pass on the Winter IPA then.

Just returned from Kroger with a bottle of Young's Double Chocolate Stout, Rogue Chocolate Stout, and a bottle of Siberian Night. Never had any of them.
