Will do. I've never seen or heard of it before. Not even sure what style it is. I do know it says Weyerbacher, which means it will be at least solid, if not great. They NEVER disappoint.

Have always drank the Burning River pale ale from Great Lakes Brewing co. Tried the Commodore Perry IPA also from Great Lakes Brewing co. and it's really good too.

Taste is just right. Not too hoppy. The Commodore Perry seems a little sweeter/fruity and less bitter than the Burning River ale.

Finishing out a Unibroue Le Terrible.

Forgot how fruity this is for a dark ale. It's opaque in my snifter, but the dominant elements are fruite and spice.

Head was full, but dissipates quickly.

Smell was fruity with a small hint of wood.

Mouth feel was mildly tannic. It doesn't last, though, so it's okay.

Kick is bitchin', at 10.5%, but it's drinkable ... not too heavy or rich.

One thing: The finish is a little weak.

Still, all things considered, I'd give it an 8.7 out of 10.

Was in Detroit all day so I decided to scope out any beer stores in the area and found a pretty awesome one. Wanted to grab some stuff I don't have in my area; ended up with Clown Shoes Hoppy Feet and Tramp Stamp, Shorts Pandemonium, Oskar Blues Gubna, Deviant Dales, and Dales Pale Ale. The sad part was the prices at this place were so cheap I almost wanted to buy stuff I had access to just for the discount; Brooklyn BCS and SN Hoptimum were $7.99, Arrogant Bastard was $3.99, and bottles of Jolly Pumpkin were $7! Everything was $2-$3 cheaper than what I always pay.

Seriously, that's a pretty good haul.

If you don't get Oskar Blues where you are, and you're ever up for a swap, let me know. We have Oskar Blues everywhere here. Like, even at drive-thrus and such.

Dale's Pale Ale is my favorite "hot-day-cold-beer" beer right now. Never had the Gubna. What is it?

For nascar beers at a ball game that's pretty cool. Wouldn't want that at my local craft beer bar though.

Had Terra Incognita last night, a collab beer between Sierra Nevada and Bouelvard. Pretty pumped to try it as its whiskey barrel aged by 2 fantastic breweries. However I was let down, had dr. pepper chemical like cherry taste and a bad plastic after tatse. Wouldn't pick it up again, did have a nice funk slightly sour notes though.

For some reason we aren't getting OB in Toledo (yet), or at least I haven't seen it. So far I've liked what I had, drinking Dale's Pale Ale now. Gubna is a DIPA, planning on drinking that next.

Was in Detroit again today so I stopped back in the same store and picked up a bottle of Clown Shoes Vampire Slayer, Blue Mountain Dark Hollow, and a 4 pack of Dragonmead Final Absolution.

Got a growler of this last night. It's their special brew for July.



"An homage to the devilish Belgian Golden Ales that continue to inspire our brewers, this Belgian Devil has aromas of peach, pear, and apple along with slight hints of banana and spice from the Belgian yeast strain. Those aromas carry through in flavor, with pear, apple, and yeast phenols dominating. It has a light, subtly sweet malt backbone and subtle bitterness for balance."

From the description it sounds super fruity but it's actually really subtle. It's a smooth pilsner with high alcohol, right up my ally. :thumbup:

Heading to Rivertown tonight. They have a new Lambic out called Punk Funk Prison Lambic. They also added a dedicated tap for sours. Might be spending a lot more time there.

Tonight, I had the Heavy Seas' Holy Sheet. It's a Belgian Abbey Ale aged in brandy barrels.

Fuc*ing fantastic. I want moar, but I only bought one bomber.

Maybe, but it's not as sour as some of their other sours...ask vdubb about their sours. ;)

I believe it's referred to as Prison Lambic due to they way they fermented it. Poured into buckets and exposed to the wild yeast in the air before placing it in the barrels. Did it naturally instead of force feeding it Brett yeast.

Also had their Cask Ale, an Amber ale with Centennial hops. Very nice and it was at room temperature. Might have made it better.

They saved a few kegs of their Winter Ale for a Christmas in July. Great beer. The cinnamon and honey are huge on the finish. We took a Growler of this home.

Hate when this happens, similar situation with me and the w00t stout. On my way home from work today I stopped by and picked up a couple more to hang on to. Put them in my stash to break out at the right occasion.

Had a fucking huge dinner today so didn't feel like a beer. Cracked a sculpin anyways and it's going down nice and slow. Little more malt to this to help balance it out compared to other West Coast IPAs. I cut my teeth so to speak on the East Coast IPAs and find myself preferring those to the hop bombs on the west coast. Thus this is a nice supplement. Balanced IPAs and pumpkin beers are SEVERELY lacking on the west coast. Seriously, when I ask around for pumpkin beers ppl look at me like I have 3 heads. SMH
