I have to agree with the IPA. I haven't had it in a long time. There was a while where we were drinking it pretty often, as it was the best we could get at the store on the way home from work. (After midnight). I think it tastes 'fake'. By fake I meant like it wasn't hoppy enough so they added 'hop flavoring'. It's finish doesn't feel like a natural hoppyness, but more of a forced type finish as the hops aren't as pleasant or bitter as I want/like. (That may sound dumb and now all of ya'll are probably dumber for reading it). It might make a good intro into an IPA for those who never had an IPA. (ala Blue Moon, I mean Coors Belgium Style Ale as intro into Belgium Style Wheat)

The 312 had a great citrus kick to it.

Delirum Tremens and Commodore Perry yesterday, did the Gulden Draak and a Southern Tier Hop Sun on Friday night. Have a bottle of Stone Sumblimely Self Righteous that may get opened today.

Drank that Rockmill Trippel last night good stuff. Ya'll need to check out some of their beers brewed in Lancaster.

Had a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale after a meeting for work this morning and probably going to start into the Holy Moses White Ale I bought last night. Lazy Sunday that I don't work <3

I would rate the IPA a bit higher - around a 7. I feel the Summertime is a bit better than the 312, but both are refreshing. The 312 is a bottom-of-the-bottle swisher, in my opinion you have to get the goodness that lingers on the bottom of the glass.

Stevens Point Nude Summer Wheat - that sounds interesting. I don't think I have heard of that beer. I am sure your friend will like your selection!

I had to settle for a sixer of Sierra Nevada Torpedo and a 24oz Franziskanerr tonight. The local Harris Teeter didn't have anything good, usually I can find a DFH 60 or a Bells Two Hearted.

Just got back from the store not long ago. We ended up getting a few we never had before. Grabbed a bomber of the Rogue Northwestern Ale, DFH Festina Peche (had this before, but it's been a while), Shiner Ruby Redbird (brewed with Ruby Red Grapefruit juice and Ginger), and Smittynose IPA. (I meant to grab Shoals, but realized I grabbed the IPA once I got home. I'm sure it'll be good if Shoals is any indication of their beers) I just had a sip of the Ruby Redbird. Not to bad a little tart grapefuit feel with a slight Ginger finish. The Wife is drinking that now. She says it would be a great sit on the porch in the summertime, and put them away type of beer. Nice session beer at 4.2 ABV.

I'm going to have The IPA once it chills. After that I don't know. We brought home some Colorado Straight Bourbon Whiskey and Some Jackelope Gin from Peach Street Distillers in Colorado. Both are made with local ingredients and are incredible. I'm not a fan of Gin, but I love this stuff and drink it straight (neat). I had to get into it last night, and sipping a shot of it now too.

Sorry about taking it off topic a little with the Spirits...now back to beer.

Went to the store and got some DFH 60 minute, Troegs Pale Ale, Troegs Dreamweaver, Magic Hat #9, Harp, and Corsendonk Abbey Ale.

Well I didn't have the Smuttynose IPA the other night as the Gin was tasting tooo good. I tried it last night...scratch that...I thought I tried it last night and it was pretty weak for an IPA. It was only when I checked this morning that the bottle I grabbed was the Shoals, while looking at a Smuttynose IPA bottle. That would explain why it didn't taste like an IPA. So tonight I will give it a shot.

Finished off with a Hop Rod Rye and two 90 Minutes. They finally had some DFH at the store down the road. (The Wife was thinking about me and bought some)

Bought 24 SmithWick's. Got like 4 left. Pretty fucking drunk.

Finally had the Smuttynose IPA. It was not as hoppy as I was hoping for. (I think I'm spoiled by Imperials). I must of liked it because I drank all six of them. It was nice on the palate and was tasting good enough not to jump to the 90 Minite, so I'd drink it again.

Last night was some more Shoals, that The Wife picked up for me at my request.

Okay....I transitioned from liquor to beer and I absolutely love this Sam Adams Rustic Saison. Good stuff.

I usually do not participate on this thread, because my beer taste is far below your standards. However, tonight at dinner I had a Kentucky Derby Bourbon Ale. That shit is not something I would drink more than one of. It tasted like straight bourbon. 8.75% alcohol.

Anyone else tried this?

I've had the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. It's so so. Too much Bourbon Flavor for me. Almost tastes fake. I like Barrel Aged beers, but this felt like it was forced Bourbon flavor. I haven't had it in a while and more than likely will not buy it again. The first time I had it was because it was a gift from my Boss at the time.

I tried the GL Lake Erie Monster last night, but I ended up doing my Colorado Bourbon afterwards, well during and too much Bourbon afterwards to really remember what I tasted. I tried it again tonight and I did like it. Doesn't quite fell like an Imperial as I'm used to Hopslam, but I'll buy it again. That says a lot for those regulars on this thread that know my thoughts about GL Beers. It seems like their 'Big Beers' aren't too bad after all. I only had 1 so The Wife can try/have the other 2.

I had a Weyerbacher Blithering Idiot and a Rouge Mocha Porter tonight when we went out to dinner. Both are really good beers and it had been a long time since I had either.

Now I'm sipping my Colorado Bourbon for the rest of tonight.

Never was a fan of the Gulden Draak. Seems way overpriced for what you get. What did you think?

Good witbiers are hard to come by. Holy Moses is respectable as far as I've had of them.

I have, but it's been awhile. It tasted pretty harsh, and I was actually surprised at how low the alc./vol. was. If you feel like getting a strong beer with a hell of a punch, try Weyerbacher TINY. It's got an alc./vol. around 12% as I recall. Maybe higher elsewhere, but Ohio caps beer at 12% (which makes no sense).

I've had it on couple of occasions and like it. I don't buy it too much as it's pricey, but maybe I'm partial to it since I met the Brewmaster. It's always cool to meet those geniuses...I mean it's cool drinking the beer they made and they're right in front of you telling you about it.

THIS !!! That's why I say 'Fake'. It has too much Bourbon flavor to be that low in ABV. I've had higher ABV barrel aged beer that was much better. It just feels like a shot, or a faked flavored shot, was dropped in your beer. (kinda like a boilermaker)...as far as Tiny goes, well you know I like me some Tiny. Weyerbacher Rocks !!!

I have with a cigar, though. Smoked a Roxor with the creator. Cool as hell.

Yeah. Alcohol taste was way too strong, and it didn't have the kick to show for it in the ABV department. I think the word that came to mind for me was "Jaegerbomb" tasting, but I think Boilermaker is even closer to what I tasted.

Not what you want from a sipping beer.

Just got back from Jungle Jim's Beerfest a little bit ago. Didn't get as messed up as I did in the past, but I'm trying to now as I'm drinking a Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti (Great Divide). So bear with me as it's kicking in.

Had a nice DIPA from Bell's called The Oracle. Everyone seemed like they were lined up for that. Awesome Beer and it was on tap. Not much of it makes it into Ohio from what I hear. Damn good beer !!!

The beer of the night for me was the Samuel Smith Stingo. Never heard of it, never had it prior to tonight, but it was Awesome. I guess it used to be a beer style hundreds of years ago. Samuel Smith brought it back after 200 years. Samuel Smith has actually brought back most beer styles in general that we have today. All I know it was something that I've never tasted before and it was delicious. I'll be looking for that beer no matter the cost. Someone said it scored a perfect 100. I don't know about that, but it was damn good.

I've gotta be honest. I never thought these words would be uttered.

However, as I've never tried it, I'll have to do so before I make any judgments. Just can't see myself considering a Sammy Smith the beer of the night.
