Did any members of the band get into the game tonight? I had a bet with someone, just curious.Bobcat;925814 wrote:Back from the Cats game with an update. What can I say. The game went pretty much as expected. Norwayne wins 61 - 8 and it wasnt that close. Norwayne scored 61 in a little over 2 qtrs. They yanked the 1st string offense a couple series into the 3rd. They couldve scored on every possesion. Wallace shared the ball between 4 recievers. I dont think any of them had more than 3 catches but Berger, Maibach and Knieriem all had TD catches. I think he only had 1 incompletion. I may be wrong. If we would've kept throwing we could've scored 100 easily, We uped the rushing stats in the 3rd but Norwayne's offense is dangerous because of the passing game. I will say this though, Jon Zimmerly is a beast running the ball. give him 18 carries a game and he rushes for 1200 yards easily. Chippewa scored on a long run but Norwayne had 6 freshman in the game at the time. The guy who scored was one of Dtowns starting RB's. No disrespect but Dtown is terrible.
I can't believe that Northwestern put 39 on Smithville......wow

Maybe they didn't think about it this way, but that's only 17 points! That's achievable! Heck, that means that after Smithville jumped out to a 21-0 lead, they lost the remainder of the game!

No Norwayne band members got in but a few of the band members are bigger than some of our freshman.

Beast, in all seriousness, Do Smithville or Hillsdale have what it takes to beat the Cats? You've seen them all. Is this the Cats year to run the table? It's never happened.

I think Norwayne is comparable to the Orrville final 4 team last year.....maybe better....BUT...I only watched each team play my Bears with the bears putting on a lackluster performance!
Take that as you will....I DO THINK the Bears are better than they have played the last 3 weeks!

I've seen all of them. I'll be shocked if Norwayne doesn't run the table Bobcat. Hillsdale and Smithville have fine teams but Norwayne is exceptional this year. They have destroyed everyone they have played. I dont see eaither team hanging with them. Way too much fire power. No one in Wayne County can say that...including my Riders (@#@$%). I think the Cats are the real deal IMO. One more loss and my Riders probably wont get a chance to prove me wrong

Norwayne wins, did the jr high kids get to play tonight? I believe this is the bobcats year!
Dalton gets the first and much deserved win tonight, congrats bulldogs!
Smithies bounce back and rack up the points while outscoring the Huskies!
Hillsdale puts another shutout on the waynedale schedule....sorry beast

Watched the Smithville game, it was a lackluster defensive effort by the Smithies! Schrock stated that it was a bad week of practice. I cannot believe it was the same defence that hung in there against the Falcons. Well I am happy for the win.
@Paul: I have seen a great football team play before!! Smithville in 2002! When the Bobcats get to the State Championship game let me know!
I stand by my statement, Hillsdale and Smithville will give the Bobcats a game.

i do think the smithies and falcons can give the bobcats a game, however I don't think they'll beat them. At least one of these games will be a blowout IMO. Smithville has given up a lot in the passing game the last two weeks (and you smithie fans swore to me that you could defend the pass well). Smithville's run is scary good and they will score with it on norwayne, but I think the cats will be able to slow it down just enough. They can also score quickly through the air and I feel smithville will have trouble keeping up on the scoreboard. Hillsdale is a good team, but they are not nearly as good as they were last year. They still have the big play passing game, but it was scarier with moore and licata both out there. There running game is still solid as well, but not as explosive as last year (line is still good, but not quite as strong either).
Congrats to the bulldogs for getting that first win. Next week....keep your heads up! Then the chipps and finally the bears - who I am now thinking they may have a chance against. If they could find a way for this young team to win 3 of their last 4, that would be great momentum going into next year.

man we can talk about records and stats and any thing else you want to talk about. We play the games on Friday nights so it gets proved on the field, not in someones mind. You know the old saying, " On any given Friday night". Hope everyone stays healthy the last three weeks. Its gonna be a wild ride. I see week ten Hillsdale/Norwayne being a sloberknocker. Go Falcons

Barring disaster in Creston, the Bobcats go undefeated. Been watching them dominate since youth ball. Knew it was coming. They will be strong a couple years yet.
Disagreed with Rittman coach in DR saying Moyer is whole team. He is definitely leading it as QB, but they are all working/learning together. IMO. Everyone stepping up in turn. Did anyone see the hit Shoup made early in game. Boom!

well......another week in the books.
congrats to the DAWGS!!!! on the board in 2011.
congrats to the FALCS!!!..........all they do is win games and get told how beatable they are!!!!
congrats to the CATS!!!!.......and all the new posters named bobcat!!!!
and congratulations to Smithville.....it wasn't pretty but it was a "W".
speaking of Smithville....
it appears some form of glaring weakness may have been exposed by Thut. If that hole doesn't get patched, the Norwayne passing game is going to have a HUGE day on Friday. 39 pts to a very young Husky squad is totally unacceptable for a team that has/had playoff aspirations.
It will be interesting to see how the Smithies roll it out on Friday.....I mean Big Green is gonna have to cover the vaunted Dennis WR screen.
A big "atta boy" to a bunch of young Huskies....Nolletti, Smith and several others. The boys in blue may be contenders in 2012.
finally....a word of warning to Miyagi.
Dead Rum is just the 1st domino......karma has its own special plans for you.

One more week of lousy games in week 8.
Waynedale at Chippewa - the Bears finally get back in the win column even if beating Chippewa does not mean you are good.
Hillsdale at Northwestern - could be a decent game. Hillsdales offense is no where near as good as last year but wiull score in masses on NW. D is strong. NW was respectable on offense.
Dalton at Norwayne - Absolute massacre. No one can stop the Bobctas in the WCAL this year.
Smithville at Rittman - Another blowout. Rittman has looked better the last two weeks because they played Chippewa and Dalton. Not because they are improving.
Week 9 and 10 should be much more fun.

I have to agree with a lot of the posts on here. The 2011 WCAL Champinship is Norwayne's to lose. At least for two more weeks the Falcons will be the defending champions. I do not count out my Falcons yet. They played lack luster at the Creek and IMHO did not look as crisp as they did against the Smithies. Coach Williams knows how to prep a team for the big game, just ask last years Western Reserve team. This team is coming together more each week. It is just a matter of whether or not they get it all together by week ten.
Beast: I am glad you got to see me last night and the same is true for my partner in crime. I layed off the bell in the second half, no need to over do it. I will need all my strength at Crestucky and an injury could be devastating, got to avoid bell elbow.
P.S. I still think if you painted your face brown it would still look like ****.
Hope we don't have trouble at NWN, last time a guy at the gate would not let the bell in. That was in the early days, now the bell is part of the Falcon persona, it could get ugly!

tell them at the Northwestern gate that Roy Bates personally forged that bell in his spare time....and furthermore, he used it to single handedly unite the district. Not only will they believe you and let you bring it in, some moron will probably give you a grand for it.

Yes, but that would be weird, too.
Yeah, upon thinking about it with a clear head this morning, I'm HOPING that SOME of it was Thut's familiarity with the way Schrock coaches and thinks. Thut has been in all the Smithville coaching meetings and has heard Schrock talk about how and why they do what they do. I'm hoping part of it was that he knew what to expect of Schrock in several of the situations.oldsmithie;925923 wrote:Watched the Smithville game, it was a lackluster defensive effort by the Smithies! That's no excuse, though. The D did NOT play well at ALL last night. If that D had showed up to Hillsdale, the Falcons would have hung 70 on us. That D would have made Waynedale a dogfight. Would have lost to Mogadore with it.
The Smithie defense needs to be perfect going forward.
As an aside, did you notice that the officiating crew seemed equally sensitive about WRs getting touched last night? There was a college coach scouting one of our guys one of the last two weeks, and he remarked that the DBs drawing PI penalties were playing defense exactly how you're supposed to play it, and that the refs were out of their minds.
I just thought it was odd to see it two weeks in a row, when we hadn't seen it at all up to this point, and it's not as though they changed how they play. One hand on the back of the player (so that if he catches, you're right there to wrap him up) and the other defending the ball. Was a rule suddenly changed such that you're not allowed to touch a receiver at all until he touches the ball or something?
Hell, Smithville 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2004 got to the Elite 8 in the state or better, and from 2000 to 2006, they won or shared 7 straight WCAL championships (Dorksen was wrong in the paper, as Chippewa won it outright in 1999 I believe). Seems like some pretty great football in there.oldsmithie;925923 wrote:@Paul: I have seen a great football team play before!! Smithville in 2002! Hell, that 2002 Dalton team was no slouch either. This league has had great football played by a lot of the schools at one time or another.
But it's good to see Norwayne getting a piece of that action lately.
oldsmithie;925923 wrote: I stand by my statement, Hillsdale and Smithville will give the Bobcats a game.
I'm nervous about saying Smithville will after last night. The offense will test their defense, as Smithville showed they can pass last night (125 yards, anyway), and everyone in the area knows they can run. But I'm not sure Norwayne's offense, which has looked even more potent overall, will be slowed down. I hope I'm wrong.
I'm HOPING, as I said before, that some of it was just that Thut knows Smithville's playbook and the way Schrock thinks, having coached under him for a bit.Bloody Toothbrush;926036 wrote:it appears some form of glaring weakness may have been exposed by Thut. However, you're right about them needing to shore up. Winning by just 17 points to that Huskie team is unacceptable. Allowing more points than you have to any other opponent and allowing them to score more against you than they have against any other opponent ... also unacceptable.
