Norwayne has built a solid program but this team is an average to a bit above average team at best in the league any other year but 2011. My gosh, the Dalton folks are proud of a 2 point win over what is probably the worst high school team in Ohio!?! Just feel bad that the Chipps couldn't break that losing streak.

Waynedale by 3 in OT.
Hillsdale by 47.

lessas at the game and think Norwayne is the better team, but not tonight. Shot themselves in the foot too, many times (11 penalties for over 100 yds.) Norwayne not nearly as good as I expected. Smithies better than I expected. Who would I want to play from Orrville's perspective? Smithville by far. They have a huge fairly quick line for their size and are not afraid to get after it. Their D backs are suspect and the first half I was amazed how far they played off the receivers. Did Norwayne take advantage of it? No. The second half they tried, but Smithville went on long scoring drives and wouldn't let them get the ball and when they did they got penalties and short punts that put them in the hole. Smithville can't beat you if they get behind because they have to grind it out to win. Norwayne's Q-back throws well and is hard nosed and I think Norwayne has more weapons. They aren't quite as quick as advertised, but Berger is a good reciever, but they didn't throw to him the second half.
You have to play some competition to be good. Norwayne's got a week to pull it together both mentally and physically to be a contender. They seem to have the better talent, but the Smithies wanted it more tonight and played with less errors and executed their game plan.

well said flash!

If I was coaching Norwayne tonight....I would've thrown the ball 80% tonight because smithville's pass defense is iffy....let Wallace scrambling be your running game. But what we saw is them try to force it down the middle and use big pass plays which didn't work well. Credit to the smithie defense for keeping them in check.

Congrats Smithville......I knew it would be a tough one.....Norwayne played hard....but in my opinion this loss is on the coaches.....no adjustments were made at all at half......we had no offensive game plan...and we were not mentally ready.....Not taking any credit away from smithville....they are a very good football team.....We were out coached in all aspects of the game......

Im sorry but a W is a W. Plus Chippewa is not the worst team in the state. I can think of many other teams that are way worse.

Bears squeeked out a win on the toe of the kicker...2nd year i a row that Bears beat Northwestern by a fieldgoal. Last year with :01 sec....this year in OT.

Thankfully there was short time on the clock, I sure dont understand after giving up 2 long scoring drives in under 3 minutes....you score and tie it up....and onside kick with 28 sec on the clock. NWN inside the 10 yd line when time expires.

Officiating were homers...

I saw something "stalk" on the way home...i think it was just corn....

A big congrats to Smithville, it will be interesting to see what this win does for their week 11 chances.
It also gives some perspective on the Norwayne/Orrville playoff chatter. Can Norwaynes "D" stop playoff caliber D4 power running games?
If not, I doubt they'll last long enough to get a crack at the Riders.

Congrats to Waynedale, the battle for 4th is settled. Huskies lose a close one. We'll get'em next year.

Also, congrats to Hillsdale and Dalton.

Don't get to happy BRF, Red Miyagi Rider has informed me that after his regime takes power, I'll be running the scoreboard at Orrville:)

apparently you've been penciled in as a restroom cleanup specialist.

It looked as tho Smithville came in with a gameplan and stuck to it throughout the game. Their defense is incredibly underrated in my opinion, so congrats Smithies for holding one of the premier offenses in league history to 14 points. Play calling was pretty un-imaginative in the second half, but definitely led to a slugfest and an exciting end of the game. Hopefully coach can redirect the boys for Hillsdale next week. Those personal fouls need to be eliminated as well... Smithville was obviously the more disciplined team.

I hate to say I told you so but it happened. And after I posted this every person with bobcat in their name came out and told me how wrong I was. I am a norwayne fan and I saw this coming a mile away. Those kids have been told since 8th grade that they were a superstar team and it finally got to their heads. Norwayne asked for it and smithville gave them all they could handle and much more. Smithville came out and showed them how to play football. They outplayed outclassed and outcoached norwayne tonight. I hope the bobcats can get back on track for a W next week. ( As long as a certain player gets to stand on the sidelines for real this time).
