Based on many of the non-related "Power Ballad" songs listed, this is one of the worst threads ever.

You get that here. People don't understand the concept and go off on tangents.

From Wiki-

Power ballads
Simon Frith identifies the origins of the power ballad in the emotional singing of soul artists, particularly Ray Charles and the adaption of this style by figures such as Eric Burdon, Tom Jones and Joe Cocker to produce slow tempo songs often building to a loud and emotive chorus backed by drums, electric guitars and sometimes choirs.[34] According to Charles Aaron, power ballads came into existence in the early 1970s, when rock stars attempted to convey profound messages to audiences.[35] He argues that the power ballad broke into the mainstream of American consciousness in 1976 as FM radio gave a new lease of life to earlier songs like Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" (1971), Aerosmith's "Dream On" (1973), and Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird" (1974).[35] Other notable examples include Nazareth's version of "Love Hurts" (1975), Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is",[34] Scorpions "Still Loving You", (all from 1984), Heart’s "What About Love" (1985)[36] and Whitesnake's "Is This Love" (1987).[37] Examples from the 1990's include Prince's "Gold" (1995) and Creed's "With Arms Wide Open"(1998).

I guess I am off on what is a power ballad. I'd think the following songs from the same artist are better examples:
Little Danny;657274 wrote:From Wiki-
Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" -All My Love, Rain Song, Fool in the Rain
Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird" - Tuesdays Gone, Simple Man
Heart's "What About Love" - Alone

For hair bands I'll throw in "Heaven" by Warrant, "Forever" by KISS and the grossly underrated "I'll Never Let You Go (Angle Eyes)" by Steelheart.

You can't throw them in when they've already been mentioned. :p

When you say power ballad, I instantly think "hair band". They all tried to show their 'softer' sides.

I would not consider hair bands to have anything but a "soft side".

If they were mentioned with embedded videos I can't see them on my computer - my IT guy put up so many safety walls I can't get video, not even youtube.

Well with the different versions of the song, the acoustical (IMO) is superior to the electrical.

Again, without seeing some of the embedded videos, some more suggestions:

Fly To The Angels - Slaughter
Heartbreak Station - Cinderella

I think someone mentioned Wasted Time by Skid Row - nice kick-ass song.
