Ken Pomeroy has his KPoy Ratings up if anyone has been wondering

here is what the recent standings look like

Jimmer Fredette
JaJuan Johnson
Terrence Jones
Jared Sullinger
Nolan Smith

Sullinger was leading up until a week ago, but Big Ten opponents and the subsequent double teams down low have limited his efficiency offensively and on the boards. According to Pomeroy, Fredette in his only game last week took 42% of his teams shots and scored 47 at Utah. That boosted his overall rating to .499 ahead of second place finisher JaJuan Johnson who managed a .498

the KPoy rating is achieved by measuring factors such as % of minutes played, Offensive rating, %possessions played when team scores, fg %, defensive stop %, assist rate, turnover, rate, and a few other categories.

Big match up tonight as #2 takes on #4 in Columbus.

With the Buckeyes in the meat of their schedule now, Sully will make or break his NPOY chances. Nothing I've seen out of him leads me to believe he isn't up to the challenge.

I'm rooting for Sullinger to win that award, but I'm more interested in the Buckeyes winning the "Big Prize". Perhaps this is truly the year of the Buckeye and we can arrange a double win. That would be particularly nice! I think that a National Title would probably enhance anything Sullinger does on the floor from here out. Go Bucks!!

If Ohio State finishes in the top 3, which there is no reason to think they won't (even with 1-2 losses), then I think he has to be the favorite.

Sullinger can do a lot to put his name clearly above Johnson's tonight, and vice versa.

Momentum seems to be building around Fredette, but I don't see him winning it.

Smith isn't even the clear best player on his own team.

Jones will start to level off his production.

Jimmer has a huge game tomorrow vs SD State. If he goes for 40+ Id think he be the leading candidate.

I'm hoping Sully makes a statement tonight. If he abuses Johnson, he will be the leading candidate for the time being.

It's gotta be between Sullinger and Kemba Walker.

Jimmer is a great story, but he doesn't play at a real school, so he won't win.

I think Kemba is the favorite because he has hit so many big shots for UConn. With no other candidates west of the Mississippi, I think Jimmer could win.

To this point it has to be Kemba Walker with Sullinger right behind him. The only thing hurting Sullinger's case is that he has a really good team around him also. He has been a beast, but Walker has done his thing without much help.

Walker definitely has the "it" factor that doesn't show up on the stat sheet.

1. Jujaun Johnson
2. Jared Sullinger
3. Kemba Walker
4. Jimmer Fredette
5. I cant think of one right now

I will switch 1 and 2 if OSU wins tonight, and production is relatively close.

BTW, I actually don't believe Johnson is or will be in the convo by years end. Other more deserving players like Walker, Sullinger and Freddette. Those are the top 3 easily at this point in the season.

IMO it's between Walker & Sullinger. I give a slight edge to Sully at this point in time.

I know in another thread I said it was Walker & it wasn't close but the way Sullinger plays with & without ball is something special in a young player.

As evidenced by last evening Sullinger will be hurt by the good play of those around him (as Klotz mentioned as well). OSU may not always need him to be a force, whereas UConn needs Kemba Walker to have big nights in order to get W's.

He had 14, 6 and 9 and hit the shot to basically clinch the game. He played his worst game of the year and was still highly productive.

BYU would lose 10 games in the Big Ten or Big East. FACT.
